A New Chapter in the Hunter Biden Laptop Saga

Just when you thought it was about to be over …

What do Sun Tzu, George Washington, and Jack Dempsey all have in common? In one form or another, each found a way to advance the principle that “The best defense is a good offense.” This adage has been used in everything from military strategy to athletics to board games like chess. Yesterday, Feb. 2, attorneys for Hunter Biden used this maxim to open the next chapter in the laptop saga.

Some may remember Chapter 1: The Laptop Is Not Real. Then came Chapter 2: Verified: The Laptop Is Real. Now it appears lawyers for the beleaguered first son have tacked their ship into the headwinds with Chapter 3: The Laptop Is Hunter’s – and then comes a tremendous “but.”

A Bumpy Road for Hunter Biden

In a new, hard-hitting strategy, lawyers representing Hunter Biden sent a flurry of cease-and-desist letters to those they feel have been persecuting Biden the younger. Initially, the president’s only living son said the laptop “could be mine.” However, these missives appear to acknowledge that the laptop left at a Delaware computer repair shop does indeed belong to Hunter.

The offensive cut a wide swath and hit landfall in several places:

  • Fox News host Tucker Carlson was threatened with a defamation lawsuit.
  • A complaint has been filed with the IRS questioning the non-profit status of the conservative group Marco Polo for “engaging in political activity” by publishing the laptop’s contents.
  • Biden’s legal team maintains computer repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac had no right to access the information on the laptop.

A lengthy letter to the Delaware Attorney General also requested an investigation into the individual conduct of former White House advisor Steve Bannon, his associate Jack Maxey, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, his attorney Robert Costello, and others. Costello was quoted in the New York Post – which oddly was not targeted by Biden’s legal team – as saying:

“This letter is a ridiculous attempt to intimidate that will not succeed. It is the product of desperation by Hunter Biden because they know judgment day is coming for the Biden family.”

Costello is referring to a House investigation into the allegation of pay-for-play business schemes of the Biden family, some of which appear to intersect with the information found on Hunter’s laptop.

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee recently launched their long-promised investigation into the president’s role in those business activities, claiming they had evidence “demonstrating deliberate, repeated deception of the American people, abuse of the executive branch for personal gain, use of government power to obstruct the investigation,” according to a report in The New York Times.

Meanwhile, US Attorney for Delaware David C. Weiss appears to be ending a multi-pronged investigation into Hunter Biden’s activities, including business dealings in Ukraine and China, as well as failing to file his tax returns. Weiss is also examining whether the younger Biden should be charged with “lying on a U.S. government form that he filled out to purchase a handgun in 2018,” reports the Times.

Until now, the Hunter Biden story has been a tangled web of international intrigue and personal struggles with drugs, addiction, and sexual promiscuity. It has been a tabloid-worthy saga that has transitioned to the front pages of just about every Daily in America. With this recent offensive brought about by Mr. Biden’s legal team, the whole megillah just got a whole lot messier. Perhaps the wisdom of the late great Yogi Berra is in order here: “It ain’t over ’til it’s over,” he said. At this point, the story of the Hunter Biden laptop is far from over.
