Lockdowns Are In, Civil Liberties Out For Some States

Some state governors begin a new round of abusing their power in the name of public health.

Hopes of a prosperous four more years had not yet cooled to the touch before the hysterics of mask-up mania began exploding like kernels in a Jiffy Pop aluminum foil pan on high heat. With Joe Biden, the presumptive victor of Election 2020, promising to shut down the country for six weeks to stop the spread of the creeping crud and demanding the public wear masks, it soon became evident who voted for the guy.

Notice!

“By mandate of the (insert town or county government entity), masks must be worn to enter this establishment and will be enforced.” A message of “get in line and obey” states like Oregon and New Mexico are blasting across public service announcement airwaves. Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico recently imposed a statewide stay at home order:

“We are in a life-or-death situation, and if we don’t act right now, we cannot preserve the lives, we can’t keep saving lives, and we will absolutely crush our current health care system and infrastructure.”

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown

This royal slap from the woman who, during the last shutdown, made sure she could visit her favorite jewelry store and buy another expensive bauble. Funny how her salary continued while New Mexicans lost their jobs.

Grisham’s Oregon comrade, Gov. Kate Brown, called her mandate a two-week “freeze,” perhaps in solidarity with Joe Biden’s crystal ball gazing of an impending long, dark, winter. All businesses are to close their doors to the public and force employees to work from home. Social gatherings are limited to six people, and no more date nights, grabbing dinner and a movie. Whatever descriptors are in use does not take away from the crushing impact statewide shutdowns have on mental, physical, and financial stability.

Adding to the stress for people now terrified of a virus with a 99% survival rate are orders forcing them to avoid family during the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and California’s leftist governor has canceled the holiday, adding the threat of arrest for non-compliance.

Liberty Nation’s pithy Pennel Bird perhaps said it most eloquently:

“Having whet his appetite for gastrointestinal fascism, Newsom this week then doubled down on the most cherished and traditional family meal on the calendar and in America’s history – Thanksgiving.”

And What About The Holidays?

For many Americans, the season of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year is challenging enough without being told one must stay home and not visit friends and relatives. For many people, the only socialization they have is their local coffee shop, café, or pub to share a few minutes or hours in conversation or simply to be with other warm bodies.

Gavin Newsom

An alarming statistic released this week showed more Japanese people committed suicide in October than died of COVID-19 in 10 months – and even child suicides had increased dramatically.

According to the James J. Peters Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Bronx, the virus may have long-term effects on people who never contract the illness: “Social isolation contributes to the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders and suicidal behavior.” The unintended casualties of the latest war between politicians.

How much longer can Americans take the roller coaster ride of fear-mongering, edict-declaring, mask-shaming fascists playing psych-chicken with livelihoods and mental and physical health?

You might say that two states out of 50 aren’t so bad, right? In any other year, that might be true. But in 2020, cancel culture, mask-shaming, and the use of COVID-19 as a political battle ax has not only been effective with other states’ officials jumping on board the “we’re all going to die” wagon, but ironically contagious. Above all else, what a politician fears most is having his or her favorability rating tank. And calling mask mandates and lockdowns a “life and death situation” has had its intended impact.

But, hey, let us all move and just smile and wave to the Biden voters wearing masks, all alone, in their cars on the highway. Bless their hearts.
