When the Fickle Finger of Fate Award is resurrected from a television show long past, flyover folks find it a fabulously cool blowback on the hot air generated in the Swamp. This week, it was all about Representative Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and his myth of Antifa, as well as quite possibly the most egregious House Judiciary Committee hearing in history.
For heartlanders, who respect the good old Constitutional Republic, the week past was both excruciatingly painful and nearly delightful at times as we watched the adults paddle the tantrum-throwing toddlers on the hill.
The rough and oft-times hilarious conversation in flyover states began with Nadler scuffling, unmasked, to his ride when he was approached by two random citizen journalists who queried about the Portland Antifa riots. Nadler pooh-poohed the audacious assessment of the protests and claimed that Antifa is simply “a myth” being perpetuated only in the Swamp. Of course, this was just days before Portland capitulated to Trump and sanity. Nadler’s tinny tune was off the air on Wednesday when Oregon’s governor cried “uncle” and cut a deal with Homeland Security to stop the crazies from further damaging the city of Portland.
What the Heck Was That?
But Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing to grill Attorney General Bill Barr exceeded all expectations of ridiculous partisanship. Liberty Nation’s Graham J. Noble summed up the close encounter of the alien kind. About what should have been a serious fact-finding mission – not so much another Inquisition, where every answer is on the wrong side of history – Noble opines:
“It is hard to put into words how far committee Democrats went beyond the bounds of civility, reason, and House protocol in their determination to hurl at the AG wild accusations – some of them demonstrably false – and prevent him from answering any of their questions.”
The hearing did resemble one man attempting to reason with a drunken mob. But things were different after Nadler graced Barr with a lunch break. When it came time for Republicans to question the attorney general, the seismic shift was felt by all.
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) opened with a montage of video clips showcasing violence in Portland. Myth-busting level: Expert. Barr was also granted time to provide the answers for which Democrats had refused to wait.
When it was all said and done, Hoosier Karen Bennett observed, “[it was] a perfect depiction of exactly who they are. Oh my, the ‘gentle lady’ admonishes the AG for his lack of respect. That was unbelievable!” And Steve Webber gave flyover folks a stock tip: “I just asked my stockbroker what I should invest in with chaos and lack of ‘government intervention’ – he said ammunition and canned goods.”
But it was one savvy gal in North Dakota, Gina Louise, who gave us a clear vision of the hearing on the hill: “A beach ball, a harpy, and an imbecile walk into a Barr – a Bill Barr. It wasn’t pretty.”
