Transgender Bathrooms Issue Goes Back to the States

One look at all the breathless headlines across the establishment media, and you’d think everyone in America is riveted by the issue of transgender bathrooms.

Yes, the leftist establishment media has jumped all over a decision which essentially does nothing more than roll back an Obama Administration edict.  Obama’s directive took the transgender bathroom issue out of the state’s hands.  According to Fox News:

A document submitted to the Supreme Court by the Solicitor General's office said that the Obama-era directive issued this past May did not "undergo any formal public process" or explain how the directive was "consistent with the express language of Title IX," the federal law outlawing sex discrimination in education and activities. 

“This is an issue best solved at the state and local level," Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said. "Schools, communities, and families can find -- and in many cases have found -- solutions that protect all students.”

"Congress, state legislatures, and local governments are in a position to adopt appropriate policies or laws addressing this issue," Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. "The Department of Justice remains committed to the proper interpretation and enforcement of Title IX and to its protections for all students, including LGBTQ students, from discrimination, bullying, and harassment.”

What the Trump administration action means is that, “… it will be up to states and school districts to interpret federal anti-discrimination law and determine whether students should have access to restrooms in accordance with their expressed gender identity and not just their biological sex,” according to the Post.

Recent estimates of the transgender population in the U.S. put transgenders at .06% of the population - 1.4 M people in a country of more than 318 M people.

Still, the subject is another ripe opportunity for those on the left to resume their daily attacks on all things Trump, and continue their incessant mantra that the new President is a regressive bigot.
