There’s No Way Around The Second Amendment

The debate about firearms and the Second Amendment surfaces with almost annoying regularity, these days. Democratic politicians and various left-wing celebrities and media pundits come up with all sorts of nonsense about guns. Most of them have, quite obviously, never fired a gun in their lives and have never bothered to learn anything about them. One thing leftists are finally starting to realize, however, is that there just is no way around the Second Amendment.

Proof of this is that, while the left continues to call for more gun laws or for tightening existing regulations, there is an emerging trend of directly attacking the very constitutional amendment which protects our right to own guns.

I try to avoid irritating clichés, but at the end of the day, the bottom line is this: Whatever idea one dreams up to get rid of guns, the Second Amendment itself cancels it out – every time.

With all this in mind, let’s take a look at how any supporter of gun rights can quickly defeat and neutralize any opponent – no matter how big – by simply focusing on one undeniable fact; that owning a gun, or guns, is a right protected by the Constitution of the United States.

The following techniques – once practiced – will allow you to become, in the eyes of any leftist, the most insufferable asshole of all time. You will be hated and reviled by all who oppose gun rights. But, you will be completely invincible in the face of the slings and arrows and whatnot. You have won the battle before it has even begun. You will be the God of gun debates! If you’re Jewish, you’ll be the G-d of gun debates! How? By cutting to the chase; by ignoring all the crap that leftists will throw at you, and, infuriatingly (for them), merely returning again and again to the one indisputable fact: The Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees your right to keep and bear arms.

A Fun Word Game

Even the most emotional pleas to reduce gun violence, save lives, and create a safer society are rendered irrelevant. Should we ban guns because doing so would save lives? Convincing arguments can be made for and against that, but the question itself doesn’t hold up against the statement “I have a constitutional right to own a gun.”

How often have you been told not to try this at home? Well, this is something you can try at home: Ask yourself, out loud, “Should we ban guns because doing so would save lives?” Very good. Now, answer yourself thusly: “I have a constitutional right to own a gun.”

See how that works? It’s an argument-killer. There’s just no getting around it. Feel free to try…

“But, it would save lives…”

“I have a constitutional right to own a gun.”

“But we need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and crazy people…”

“I have a constitutional right to own a gun.” Here, simply emphasizing “I” negates the argument. This is a fun exercise that the whole family can play. Try emphasizing different words and see how this one statement defeats all objections.

“But why do you need a gun?”

“I have a constitutional right to own a gun.”

“But the government has a duty to protect life. This is a national health issue. General welfare, and all that…”

“I have a constitutional right to own a gun.”

Isn’t this fun?

Now, imagine being confronted with studies, charts, and tables of statistics that all show how guns lead to more violence and more death. How do you deal with that? Indeed, it is true that you could, with some quick research, discover that all those charts and studies and statistics were compiled by people who have an anti-gun agenda. You could slave over a hot keyboard for hours to come up with other studies and statistics that show how fewer guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens lead to more crime.

Why would you do that, though? Are you seriously going to waste precious drinking time, compiling all that information? There are two reasons why you shouldn’t bother: First because anti-gun people are not going to take any of your statistics or studies seriously. In your heart, you know this. Secondly, because, well, we’re talking about arguing with leftists, here! Why, in the name of all the holy saints in Christendom are we going to waste your time on them? It is, after all, just too much fun to be obnoxious. And besides, we have the Second Amendment and that, my friends, is all we need.
