If you’ve ever wondered why Washington, D.C. is nicknamed the Swamp, you need to look no further than the man who has been identified as the mole in the Trump Campaign. Indeed, swamps are breeding grounds for such people. If you consider the Old English origin of the word “swamp,” it derives from fungus. How appropriate when considering the character and behavior of the man fingered as the clandestine informant.
After a preposterous amount of backpedaling by the New York Times and The Washington Post trying to justify a scheme codenamed Operation Crossfire Hurricane, the name of the mole has finally been published far and wide. Of course, if you are an astute Liberty Nation reader, you would have had this information last week here and here.
There are so very many connections between this individual to the players in Crossfire Hurricane; it is almost absurd on its face to believe anyone else could have been the informant. Clarice Feldman at American Thinker gets my vote for putting all the puzzle pieces in place and seamlessly connecting the dots here.
And so, we bring you this up close and personal look into the life and times of Mr. Stefan Halper.
Who is Stefan Hapler?
Known by friends and associates as simply Stef, 73-year-old Halper is a Swamp dweller through and through. At its most base level, one could say good old Stef is nothing more than a con man. He traveled in upstanding conservative Swamp circles for decades, conning decent people and respectable organizations. As one associate told Liberty Nation:
“He is almost a caricature of the deep state fixture…an under-the-radar, shadowy, self-serving figure with a long-time connection to the permanent bureaucracy and hidden agenda…tremendously taken with his own intellect and accomplishments, privately contemptuous of his colleagues. You would always wonder what he was looking to get for himself out of every situation.”
Next up is a former business partner of Mr. Halper who called him a “pretentious fraud.” And when asked by Liberty Nation to describe Halper, a third Washington, D.C. insider declared, “Status and appearances are very important to Halper. When he got to Cambridge, he simply sold out to the liberal ethos prevalent there.”
Of course, that would imply that at one time Mr. Halper held honest political beliefs. But the more we spoke to those who have known him personally, the image of a self-absorbed opportunist emerges rather than one who sold himself to the devil. As another Halper colleague told LN, “His betrayal is both shocking and unsurprising; Shocking that this was at the behest of a leftist president, but unsurprising that he would accept this assignment to line his own pockets at the cost of selling out his own long-stated ideology.”
Time to Start the Pump
Indeed, the reoccurring theme among Halper’s lifelong associates is that he is pompous, arrogant and oozing with hubris. In short, Mr. Halper typifies a life-long swampster at its smarmiest.
Real swamps are home to creatures who are able to adapt to a very specific environment. It is a closed ecosystem, filled with marshy like fungus and a morass of spongey layered vegetation. Unlike a river or stream, nothing fresh flows in or out – it is stagnant and reeks of muck and sludge. A swamp, in short, is a natural habitat for someone like Stefan Halper.
Now that we have the name, the place, and the crime, perhaps it’s time to get the pump out and start draining the Swamp of good old boys like Stefy. It may take a while, but flushing and dredging people like this from their cozy environs seems well worth the time and effort.
