It’s just prohibition, it has served its purpose, its time is done. The time to rectify the situation was probably 30 or 40 years ago. Hauling Joe blow off to jail for a bag of weed is not making the world a better place. FYI. Removing their driver’s license and putting them on probation does not improve a person’s situation.
Look at it this way, I personally think that professional sports are the biggest waste of time, money, and grown man energy on the face of this planet. Not to mention a huge distraction for all the people that aren’t actually participating. Does this mean that we should illegalize professional sports? I’m sure certain individuals believe that marijuana is a huge distraction, a waste of time and energy.
From an economical standpoint. You can spend $100 going to a professional sports game or you can spend $100 on a bag of weed, which is going to entertain you longer? Both provide entertainment for a period of time. (Only one has medicinal benefits though) How long are we going to waste public tax dollars chasing down potheads instead of crackheads? A drunk driver doesn’t get their license taken away on the first offense. An individual arrested for marijuana possession gets their license taken away automatically for a month and restricted for five more. So, drink yourself to death, smoke 3 packs a day, but don’t dare light up a spliff. This is the debate That Never Ends, the debate itself is a distraction from the progress that could be made. Enjoy the day folks.
i dont necessarily disagree with your points, that being said. stop rationalizing previous unconstitutional actions meant to limit liberty. i say this because this is how people get into the weeds, pun intended, when talking about these issues. just like gay marraige. we talk about history, we argue about morals etc but the reality is marrige is under the perview of the church and should have nothing to do with govt, either enforcing or giveing tax breaks to people who participate in nuptuals- that is the only way any people can be equal. see we get lost in symptoms rather than searching out root causes and maximizing liberty, and that my friend is what we should always be doing. and you never maximize liberty when it requires you to enslave someone else to accept your way of life, or force someone else to abide by your own morals. the reality is we need only one law, no rape murderor theft, as all crimes fall into these three categories. good day sir.
Words worth thinking on.
