Public Safety Under Attack as Biden Releases Criminal Migrants

The Biden administration has cut deportation by 70%.

The Democratic Party just doesn’t want to admit that there is a border crisis with massive illegal immigration — despite the news reports, the rise in crime, and Republican officials begging for help from the Biden administration. It’s bad enough that millions of undocumented travelers crossed into the United States in 2022, but now it is being reported that the White House has allowed the release of nearly 1,400 illegal migrants who are convicted criminals into American neighborhoods.

Migrants With Criminal Convictions Set Free in America

According to ICE data, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released 1,363 illegal migrants who were also convicts and another 1,800-plus aliens who have pending charges. “Of the illegal alien convicts released from DHS custody, 463 bonded out, 421 were given an order of recognizance, 371 were given an order of supervision, and 108 were paroled,” Breitbart reported. The report continued:

“In total, more than 35,000 illegal aliens were released from DHS custody into the United States interior from October through December 18. Most significantly, the agency seems to be increasing releases, as those freed from custody in the first 18 days of this month [December] eclipse the total number of releases last month.”

Migrant offenders are not just being charged with illegal entry into the country; a lot of them have committed violent offenses, and many are repeat offenders. In 2018, for example, 12.5% of those prosecuted had at least one “prior federal or state criminal conviction, 18.5 percent had two to four prior convictions, and over 10 percent had five or more convictions. Hispanics dominate the criminal prosecutions, representing 74 percent of the criminal illegal aliens,” Heritage explained.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a report on criminal activity and illegal immigrants from Fiscal Year 2017 to 2023 (the fiscal year runs October through September). The numbers show just how serious alien migration has become. For example, in 2019, during the Trump administration, there were 4,269 criminal noncitizen arrests compared to 10,763 in FY2022. We are barely into the new year, and already there have been 1,432 arrests from October last year.

The CBP report lists some of the more serious crimes that illegal migrants were convicted of since 2017, and it is really telling. To put this into perspective, in 2017, Trump was just coming into office, and his strict immigration policies are demonstrated here, and FY2023 only started three months ago.

It should be obvious that the open-door policy of the left is not working. With more migrants marching into the United States comes more crime. In Texas, “between June 1, 2011 and Nov. 30, 2021, 356,000 criminal aliens were booked into Texas jails, of which over 243,000 were identified as being in the country illegally,” Heritage reported. “Those illegal aliens were charged with more than 401,000 criminal offenses, including 742 murders, 47,737 assaults, 7,524 burglaries, over 11,000 sexual assaults and other sex crimes, and numerous kidnappings, thefts, robberies, and drug and weapons charges.” That is just one state, and the stats are from before Democrats thought it was a good idea to leave our border unprotected.

Dems Don’t Want to Deport

Despite border states being overrun with migrants, the Democrats don’t want to deport them. Even with Title 42 still in effect. In fact, the number of undocumented here illegally that have been arrested and deported has dropped by more than 70% under the Biden administration. As Breitbart explained:

“Twice last year, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued so-called ‘sanctuary country’ orders — now being challenged in court — that ensured most of the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens were not eligible for arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.”

Biden started off his presidency with a bang in illegal immigration, deporting only about 16,351 migrants in the first nine months, a 71% drop from 2019 that saw 56,000 immigrants sent back to their countries under Trump. During FY2020 with the COVID pandemic, President Trump still deported about 36,000 aliens while the Biden administration returned only 27,000 in FY2021.

Is Biden violating the Immigration and Nationality Act? RJ Hauman of the Federation for American Immigration Reform suggested that may be the case, telling Breitbart:

“The law explicitly requires that those who cross the border illegally be detained, but the Biden administration clearly doesn’t want to detain or deport anyone.

“So it isn’t surprising that they are attempting to undermine the rule of law by not only cutting overall detention capacity but illegally releasing criminal aliens as well. Public safety is under attack to advance their open borders agenda.”
