Do you remember when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called the various employee bonuses resulting from the recent GOP tax bill mere crumbs? Representative Todd Rokita (R-IN) does, and his “Creating Real and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings” (CRUMBS) Act is a somewhat less than subtle gibe at Nancy’s denial.

Rep. Rokita released a statement Wednesday introducing the legislation. If passed, it would make all bonuses up to $2,500 received in 2018 tax-free. This is a direct follow-up on the tax bill President Trump recently signed into law, which left the Democrats – Pelosi especially – wailing about the collapse of the economy and the end of the world as we know it. But, as Liberty Nation’s Jeff Charles pointed out, it was Nancy Pelosi who tried to mitigate the damage to herself and her party and downplay the benefits of the tax cut by calling these measly thousand-dollar or more bonuses crumbs. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. Mr. Rokita explains in his statement:

“Americans are receiving thousands of dollars in bonuses and more money in their paychecks thanks to President Trump’s tax reform, but out-of-touch Democratic leaders believe they only amount to crumbs,” said Congressman Todd Rokita. “The CRUMBS Act will let Americans keep more of the money they receive as a result of President Trump’s tax reform, and allow them, not the government, to choose how best to spend their bonuses.”

In reality, Democrats are terrified that the people, not the government, will get to choose how best to spend money in general. As the Congressman said: “In Indiana, thousands of Hoosiers are seeing the benefits of President Trump’s tax reform in the form of higher wages, bonuses, expanded benefits, and increased investment.” If people aren’t enslaved by the hand-out system and crippling taxes, they won’t be forced to vote for the party that maintains both.

Perhaps just as dangerous to the Democratic bottom line, the public, in general, may come to realize just how ineffective and irrelevant politicians like Nancy Pelosi are. And that might be the most horrifying reality of all for Mrs. Pelosi. The Act itself may be another nail in the Democrat’s political coffin, but the name adds insult to injury.
