Even black men can enjoy white privilege, or so CNN analyst Areva Martin believes. Though to be fair, she did think the radio show host of SiriusXM was white before spouting off her ignorance and race baiting. Martin made a guest appearance on the show, hosted by David Webb, when she opened her mouth and inserted an entire leg – forget the foot. The host was explaining his background in media and how he did not feel color was a deterrent in his career. The lovely, well-informed Miss Martin then accused him of white privilege. Isn’t it hilarious when leftists fall victim to their own unconscious racism? Here’s a recap of the conversation:Areva Martin
“I never considered my color an issue. I considered my qualifications the issue,” Webb said in regard to his employment background.
“Well David, you know, that’s a whole ‘nother long conversation about white privilege of things that you have the privilege of doing that people of color don’t have the privilege of,” Martin argued.
“How do I have the privilege of white privilege?” Webb asked with obvious confusion.
She began to respond, but was cut off shortly after beginning her ignorant diatribe. “David, by virtue of being a white male, you have white privilege. It’s a whole long conversation I don’t have time …“
“Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should have been better prepped. I’m black.”
Wait. What? The awkward silence is hilarious. Too bad this was radio and we couldn’t see Martin backpedaling to get out of that horrendous blunder. She tried to apologize, but Webb interrupted with a bit of outrage at her assumption, and justifiably so.
“They gave me the wrong information. My people gave me wrong information,” was Martin’s brilliant response. What, she didn’t bother to take the time to see who she was going to be interviewed by? Would her accusation alluding to his ease in career choice because of white privilege have been altered if she’d known he was a black man? And what if he identified as a white female?

You Know What They Say About Assuming
Although we can sit here and laugh at her ignorance, the serious problem of racism against the white male is real and critical, and only getting worse. Aside from being an analyst for CNN — which to many is an automatic strike against her credibility – Martin is also a civil rights attorney who should have known better than to spout off her idiocy in a public forum, especially one being recorded.
But, as Liberty Nation’s Mark Angelides reported, the racism of white leftists is well-demonstrated by a Yale study. As much as they want to go around foaming at the mouth, accusing Republicans and conservatives of being racist, they are the true offenders. Angelides wrote:
“The linguistics study found that liberal whites ‘dumb down’ their language when talking to racial minorities. This turned out to be as true for presidential candidates as it was for undergrad students. What may surprise those on the left – if they are ever exposed to this research – is that conservatives do not engage in this behavior.”
LN’s Jeff Charles described several examples of the left using racialized chatter and accusations to make the point that they are sticking up for minorities – if you can wrap your brain around that. Martin is certainly not the only well-educated and supposedly well-informed person who has fallen into the blind racism trap. The phrase “can’t see the forest for the trees” is an apt description.
Perhaps Webb didn’t sound black enough in either voice or name – or maybe that a black man could enjoy such success confused her – but for whatever reason, the attorney/analyst made an ass out of herself when she wrongly assumed his race and that his accomplishments were due to white privilege rather than hard work and merit. Such is the irony of the blind racism of the left.
