Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) seems to go after the most controversial of issues and, like the liberal she is, dives in without bothering to look for submerged obstacles first. Instead, she just blames every problem on President Donald Trump. Her most recent campaign is to provide free reproductive health care for illegal immigrants, which many assume also means abortions. Responding to an article from Vox that claims the undocumented are not getting the reproductive health care they need (or want), the Somalian migrant tweeted that no one should fear getting medical care simply because they’re here illegally.
No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented. We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health care.https://t.co/bGuaS64HkL

Although the Squad member doesn’t mention abortion by name, she has made it clear that she is pro-abortion. During February’s State of the Union address, Trump begged lawmakers not to allow late-term abortions. Omar took affront to his words and tweeted out that “If Trump thinks pivoting from his failed vanity wall to policing women’s bodies and choices is going to help his 2020 chances he has another thing [sic] coming. #SOTU.”
The Vox article that brought about her most recent tweet tirade blames the president and his immigration laws for women not getting the care they need or abortions. Fear of deportation and being separated from families are the two points the author, Anna North, tries to drive home. North quoted Alejandra Pablos, who had been in deportation proceedings since 2011, as saying “this is the Trump area.” Pregnant, she claimed fear of being sent home had her seeking an abortion, but that she was afraid ICE would be waiting for her at Planned Parenthood. “Even though you might be ready and you would love to start a family, I don’t know how I can do that when the state can take away my baby.”
Bridgette Gomez, the national director of strategic partnerships at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said: “All people deserve the right to raise children in a healthy and safe environment without being targeted by aggressive immigration tactics or being forced to live in constant fear.”
What liberals can’t seem to understand is that by migrating to the US illegally and choosing to stay here without seeking citizenship, they are committing a crime. Criminals convicted of their crimes go to jail or prison and are separated from their children. Saying that they are afraid to start a family or seek medical attention for fear of being apprehended and deported by ICE is the same as a criminal citing fear of arrest.
“While it’s not clear exactly what impact recent threats of ICE raids and other messages from the Trump administration have had, birthrates among unauthorized immigrants have been falling since 2007, and in 2016 reached their lowest level since 2000, according to the Pew Research Center.”
“We would attribute some of it to these concerns of deportation,” said Dr. Anjani Kolahi, a family medicine physician and fellow with the group Physicians for Reproductive Health.
Not to sound insensitive, but that should be considered a plus, not a minus. Reproductive health care should also include common sense, and if you are running from the law, then bringing a baby into such a stressful environment doesn’t seem a logical thing to do.
Omar is an avid Trump-hater and seems to go after any issue or policy the president feels strongly about. Providing free reproductive health care to illegals is not only idiotic; it’s utter nonsense. Where will the funding for all of this come from? You and I, of course. We have our own citizens who desperately need medical care but can’t afford it – these should be helped first.
