President Trump isn’t your everyday Republican president – and lots of folks love that. On the other hand, fans of the establishment GOP really don’t, and they’ve made sure that the whole world knows it. But love him or hate him, Donald Trump is the president – and all those who don’t care for him can do is ride it out and hope for someone better next term, right?
Well, there’s another option now being advanced by the never-Trumpers of the GOP. Some supposed conservatives have succumbed so entirely to Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that they’re actually backing Democrats over Republicans for the upcoming midterm elections.
Let’s be fair: Despite all the apocalyptic wailing and gnashing of teeth by the resistance, Donald Trump hasn’t done too bad a job so far. He’s no saint, and he hasn’t magically made America great again overnight, but he has done a much better job than most of his recent predecessors. But make no mistake, even if Trump were a racist, homophobic, islamophobe who also hates women and the disabled, supporting Democrats or other leftists to fight him would still be a terrible idea.
Max Boot, George Will, Joe Scarborough, former Republican senator Gordon Humphrey, and others have all left the party and are now supporting Democrats for a takeover of both congressional houses in November. They accuse Trump and his ilk of obstructing justice – something that has yet to be proven, even after quite a lot of investigation. They say he demonizes minorities and alienates America’s allies, yet Trump has supported a real ally, and the ones he supposedly alienates haven’t shown themselves to be very good friends. As for demonizing minorities, anyone who thinks Trump is a racist has had too much of the establishment media Kool-Aid.
Trump might not be the perfect man to defend the Constitution, but these former Republicans are spouting leftist propaganda, apparently with no concern for facts. Still, it’s one thing to withhold support from a politician you don’t like; actively supporting the other side is something else entirely.
A vote for the DNC pick means supporting abortion – all the way up to the point of birth – and a woman’s “right” to have the taxpayers cover the cost. It means backing politicians who would strip the American people of the right to free speech, as anything that doesn’t fit in with the leftist ideology would be considered hate speech, and criminally so. The right to self-defense would soon disappear as well. How long would it take for us to succumb to the same roving rape gangs that terrorize Europe today? And that’s not even taking the economy into account. Socialism, anyone?
How can one vote for and promote Democratic candidates and still say they care about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – never mind the wellbeing of the Republic?
