According to former first lady Michelle Obama, women voters don’t have a mind of their own if they voted for Donald Trump. What? Really?
“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” Mrs. Obama said Wednesday at a Boston conference while speaking with Roxanne Gray, a feminist author. “It doesn’t say as much about Hillary, and everybody’s trying to worry about what it means for Hillary and no, no, no, what does this mean for us, as women? That we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, ‘He’s better for me. His voice is more true to me.’ To me that just says, you don’t like your voice. You like the thing you’re told to like.”
An Insult to American Women
Whether or not a woman voted for Trump is irrelevant here. The fact that Obama, a high-profile woman with incredible influence, is telling women across this nation that we cannot make our own decisions without being told what to do by someone else is distressing. It’s a grave insult to American women.
And the crazy talk continued. Obama said, “women have been socialized, sometimes in ‘very subtle ways,’ to sit and be quiet while the men do all the talking.”
Perhaps this happens in some families and social situations, but it’s the 21st century, and women have the right to vote. Women are much more vocal and opinionated now than in previous decades. We hold high-paying, stressful, and vital positions in society. We serve in the military – often on the front lines. We are doctors, lawyers, politicians, leaders, teachers, construction workers, movie stars, authors – the list goes on. And, we didn’t get to where we are today by only listening to the men in our lives. It’s hard to believe that women have come so far, only to be told by a former first lady that we do not own our minds.
Obama Can’t Accept Clinton’s Defeat – Just Like Clinton
It’s painfully obvious Michelle Obama wanted Hillary Clinton to be our next commander in chief. Her comments at the convention mimicked Clinton’s sexist statements during an interview with Vox on why she thought she lost the election. Clinton said she would have won the election had James Comey not announced in October the FBI’s intention to investigate her emails in more depth. She further whined that women chose to listen to their husbands and boyfriends instead of making their own decisions on which candidate to vote for president:
After Comey’s announcement, men could turn to their wives or girlfriends and say, “I told you, she’s going to be in jail. You don’t wanna waste your vote.” And women voters who might have been on the fence decided not to vote for Clinton. “Instead of saying, ‘I’m taking a chance, I’m going to vote,’ it didn’t work,” Clinton said.
Women are dependent on the men in their lives and the male opinions, according to Clinton:
“Many women, and let’s talk about white women since that’s the group I lost, are really quite politically dependent on their view of their own security and own position in society and what works for them,” she said.
Many Women Don’t Like Clinton
Did it ever occur to these two that they’re not the only powerful women? Did it never occur to them that women may just not like Hillary Clinton? Many simply disliked Hillary so much they would have voted for just about anyone running against her if only to keep her out of the White House.
Two of the most politically powerful ladies in the world have just mortally wounded women everywhere. Where is the public outcry? Why isn’t the mainstream media blasting the airways and social media with this disrespect to the ‘fairer’ gender? Trump says “boo” on Twitter, and everyone is up in arms, running around like offended chickens with their heads cut off – but this escapes MSM attention?
And that, folks, is sexist bigotry at its best.
