Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) visited the border in El Paso, TX, on Tuesday (Nov. 22) and offered grim images and strong words regarding how Democrats have handled the illegal immigration issue. He called it the “worst border crisis in the US history” and promised that, if he is elected speaker of the House, he and his fellow Republicans would right the wrongs committed by the current administration. He also gave a dire warning to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorakas, demanding he either resign or face the consequences, which could include impeachment.
McCarthy Paints a Disturbing Visual
“The actions of this administration have empowered cartels, human smugglers, drug traffickers, and terrorist organizations,” McCarthy declared. Since President Joe Biden has taken office, there have been more than four million illegal crossings. “That’s not the worst part,” the representative explained. “Now that Title 42 may end, we’re bracing for a tsunami.”
Title 42, enacted during former President Donald Trump’s administration, allowed the blocking or removing of illegal immigrants during the COVID pandemic as a necessary health precaution. Democrats have been trying to get that thrown out now that the “threat” from coronavirus is mostly over, and, so far, it is scheduled to end next month. Without Title 42, according to McCarthy, the number of illegal crossings is expected to hit 18,000 per day. “That would mean 13 million more illegal crossings for the rest of the term of Joe Biden if nothing changes.”
The left’s open border ideology has not only given access to refugees fleeing horrors and corruption, but also to dangerous criminals and drugs. Each day, McCarthy emphasized, 300 Americans die from fentanyl overdoses. “It is the equivalent of an airline crashing each and every day,” he stressed, adding that officials would not stand idly by watching such a disaster happen repeatedly without scrambling to find a way to end such senseless deaths. The Republican also spoke about the atrocities committed against the border agents and how the cartels and other criminals have shot at them, raped and burned women, and more. All of this, he claimed, is because Democrats – and especially Mayorkas – have relaxed security and allowed this to happen.
“In 42 days, the united Republican House takes control,” McCarthy announced. “In 42 days, we end one-party Democrat rule in Washington. A new Republican House will work to stop Joe Biden’s assault on our laws and our border agents.”

Resign or Else …
With Democrats holding power, we have seen the collapse of border security and the shutdown of ICE. “We will use the power of the purse and the power of the subpoena. Now let me be clear. Those responsible for this disaster will be held accountable,” McCarthy said. One of the people the presumptive speaker holds most responsible is the Department of Homeland Security’s secretary. “His actions have produced the greatest waves of illegal immigration in recorded history. Our country may never recover from Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty.” And then the California representative dropped the ultimatum, saying:
“If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure to determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry.”
McCarthy’s message was blatantly clear, but not everyone was impressed. Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) said, “It’s a broken record. They go down to the border. They dress in their camouflage suits. They take pictures with some of the Guardsmen that [Gov. Greg] Abbott has there. It’s all photo ops. The time has passed for photo ops and visits. The time to act is now.”
However, others might argue that the actions of the left so far have done nothing but exacerbate the crisis. Working on the “root problems” with other countries doesn’t seem to have stemmed the influx of migrants.
