Liberty Nation: Daily Snapshot – 4.28.20

The news you need - ready to go!

Welcome to Liberty Nation’s Daily Snapshot. All the top news of the day, the latest polls, and more.

What’s happening in the political sphere – the hot stories making the news today.

  • Fox News host Sean Hannity has demanded a retraction from The New York Times after the publication linked him to the death of Mr. Joe Joyce of COVID-19. If the Times retracts, will it get as much coverage as the original story that suggested Hannity had blood on his hands?
  • Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) is taking aim at the new House committee looking into the president’s handling of the Coronavirus crisis, calling it a partisan vehicle to support Joe Biden’s bid for the presidency.
  • Yet more people have emerged to back up Tara Reade’s claim that she was sexually assaulted by Joe Biden. Still, much of the media remains silent, and leading Dems are ignoring the topic. Not one interviewer has pushed Biden on the matter, suggesting he is only taking interviews with friendly outlets.
  • New York has canceled its Democratic presidential primary citing public safety. However, it appears all other congressional primaries will go ahead as normal. With Sen. Sanders still technically on the ballot, Bernie supporters see this as a way of limiting his power at the upcoming convention.

The latest polls and trends impacting the United States.

  • 51% of voters want the U.N. to punish China for its actions or apply economic sanctions over its role in the devastation caused by the Coronavirus.
  • A majority of voters (57%) support President Trump limiting immigration to help Americans get back on their feet once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Just 31% are opposed.
  • 41% of government workers support putting American workers at the front of the line when it comes to getting jobs. This figure is 56% for the private sector.
  • When industries (such as construction) talk about how difficult it is to find American workers, 63% believe it is better that they raise wages and benefits, while just 23% think it is better to bring in foreign workers.

Something political to ponder as you enjoy your morning coffee.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is fuming that New York has canceled the Democratic presidential primary. With congressional primaries also slated for the same day, her seat is up for grabs. Bernie supporters not going to the polls means the turnout will likely be far lower than it would otherwise be; this could indicate an uphill struggle for AOC to retain the nomination. In a stroke of irony, it was only a few days ago that Joe Biden and other Democrats suggested (without any evidence whatsoever) that President Trump would try to delay or cancel the November election.

A thought for the day from history’s most interesting thinkers.

If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago and a racist today.-
