Kamala Harris: The DNC’s Discount Photo Op

Even Democrat donors don’t want to be seen with the VP these days, it seems.

The Biden-Harris administration has set more personal and career records than any other in White House history, it seems – and they’re all of the awkward and embarrassing variety. The most recent might just be “sharpest price-cut in political fundraising,” as Vice President Kamala Harris is now being offered as a bargain basement Blue Light Special for the purpose of raising money for the Democratic National Committee.

[substack align=”right”]Most loyalists pay a hefty price to get their picture taken with the famous – it’s an old standard for political party patrons – but it seems even Democrat donors don’t want to be seen with the VP these days. Harris was scheduled to be the prime-time speaker and supermodel for the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum, and a personal photo op with the nation’s number two came at a price tag of $15,000 a head. They couldn’t sell enough of the dream, however, and the event was postponed.

But good news abounds. An upcoming fundraiser in California promises a glamour shot with Harris for a fraction of her original price: a cool $5,000. So, call now, as operators are standing by for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Spin Doctoring the Optics Fail

Once the word was out on social media that the price of a candid with the vice president had been reduced so dramatically – probably to ensure butts were in seats – conservatives and critics blew up the airwaves.

“We’ve found one area seemingly immune to inflation,” Bloomberg Opinion writer Robert A. George snarked. Podcaster Noam Blum took to Twitter and poked as well: “Nice to know that even with inflation, some stuff is getting cheaper.”

The DNC was ready with the spin, and Deputy Communications Director Daniel Wessel told Fox News Digital, “As has always been the case, there are a variety of ticket levels for every event as is pretty standard for finance events. We’ve raised record amounts of money with help from both Vice President Harris and President Biden, so we’re going to continue to do what clearly works well for the party and our donors.”

Well, it seems the donors don’t want the Nieman Marcus event with the vice president. It’s more like a Dollar General kind of thing, with bologna sandwiches and Kool-Aid.

The historically low polling numbers for both the president and his sidekick have hit the basement level – pun intended. And then there is that pesky issue of inflation: Even limousine liberals are cutting back on their expenses. In fact, it has gotten so bizarre at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and beyond, that the Democratic National Committee seems to have gone rogue to stay afloat.

Maybe it’s time for the ticket that received 81 million votes to call in a favor: “Give us money, please and thank you, and stop making us look bad.”
