Kamala Harris and Disrespecting the Constitution

Dramatics and sideshows have defined the confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the United States Supreme Court. The left has hated him since the day of his candidacy, not just because President Trump chose him but also because he is a judge that believes in the interpretation of the Constitution as it was intended at the time of creation, a.k.a. an originalist.  America was founded on the principles of freedom based on a limited government, and the Democratic Party hates that.

Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) has not hidden her animosity towards Trump and his voters. Immediately after the president announced Kavanaugh as his pick for the Supreme Court, the Democrats had prewritten, generic protest speeches prepared to fill in the blank with a name. On the fourth day of the hearings, Harris overtly showed her disdain for the Constitution, refusing to call it by name.

Senatorial Drama

Several left-wing senators have attacked Judge Kavanaugh during the hearings. Senator Corey Booker (D-NJ) had emails that Kavanaugh wrote after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City. Booker claimed these emails would be damaging to the nominee, but they only proved the judge did not favor racial profiling for security purposes – hardly a stance Democrats could disagree with.

Harris, who is considered to be a hard left politician, did not miss out on the opportunity to take swipes at the judge. Each Democratic politician had their specific questions ready, and there was a political tone with each one. The left-wingers didn’t care so much about the law as they did about how Kavanaugh’s answers would look politically, as they searched for damaging responses.

Carrying the Constitution

At one point, the judge mentioned and showed that he routinely carries a pocket-sized copy of the United States Constitution. To Democrats, the founding legal document that restricts the government from interfering too profoundly into American’s lives is like garlic and a wooden cross is to Dracula.

The left likes to pretend that the Constitution is a “living and breathing document,” because it justifies their actions to grow the government into a larger, more intrusive entity. If the Constitution is not living and breathing, the government cannot fundamentally change the United States and that limitation ruins the leftist agenda to destroy America as the Founding Fathers intended.

Only a Book

Harris said there are unenumerated rights not mentioned in “in that book you carry,” likely referring to health care, abortion, welfare, and gay marriage.

The senator not using the word “Constitution” represents a microcosm of how the left feels about the document. They do not like the word leaving their mouth, even though the principles in that reviled manifesto has allowed Harris the opportunity to be a minority female United States senator. It has also allowed her to be an attorney general in the state of California. But after all, it is “just a book.”

The left hates the Constitution and everyone who believes in its original message.

Kamala, say the word “Constitution.” It won’t hurt, unlike the abortions that you support.
