Joe Biden Leading the Democrats in Early 2020 Polling

by | Oct 16, 2018 | Articles, Politics

This past summer, President Donald Trump revealed that he “dreams” about facing former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Trump told CBS News that “I’d love to have it be Biden,” adding that Biden never received more than 1% of the vote and that it was former President Barack Obama who “took him out of the garbage heap.” Well, President Trump may get his wish, as a new poll finds Uncle Joe is leading the pack of potential candidates.

A CNN survey, conducted between October 4 and October 7, provided a great deal of insight into the question: Will President Trump win by a little or by a lot? Ostensibly, the names being floated around are not immune from scandal, scrutiny, and solecisms, especially the former vice president.

The study found that one-third of Democratic or Democratic-leaning respondents would support Biden for the nomination in two years. The makeup of Biden’s roaring approval is diverse, too, with backing from both genders, educated and non-educated, and the middle class. This suggests that perhaps there is a growing demand by a large chunk of the Democratic base for more of a left-of-center politician rather than a die hard progressive.

Biden was followed by:

  • Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT): 13%.
  • Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA): 9%.
  • Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA): 8%.
  • Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ): 5%.
  • Former Secretary of State John Kerry: 5%.

Other names on the list were former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, attorney Michael Avenatti, former Attorney General Eric Holder, and Representative Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).

Should any of these candidates compete against the incumbent, then you can bet the mortgage that Trump will have a field day. Sanders and his plan to institute a failed socialist system. Warren and her recent DNA test that revealed she’s 1/1024th Native – maybe. Booker’s attempt to be a rule breaker and claiming he is Spartacus. Should we reopen the book on Kerry?

And then there is “Creepy Uncle Joe,” who might not make a decision of his intentions until January.

Creepy Uncle Joe

The images and video of Biden behaving in an odd manner around women and children have made the Internet rounds. It is so concerning that even the left-leaning Washington Post published this article, “What are we going to do about Creepy Uncle Joe Biden?” While there have not been any sexual assault or harassment allegations made against Biden, it is evident that there are possible murmurs and concerns in the swamp, highlighted at a Senate ceremonial swearing-in ceremony.

But there are other items in Biden’s political career that should turn some heads. No, it isn’t the plagiarism accusations that plagued his 1988 presidential campaign, forcing him to drop out of the race. It’s the concerns of corruption.

The consensus is that the Obama administration went soft on China and was too friendly with the Ukraine government, often ignoring the fraud and corruption that were ubiquitous in Kiev.

According to investigative journalist and bestselling author Peter Schweizer, something is shady at the private equity firm run by the sons of Biden and Kerry. Schweizer, the author of the hit Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends, notes that Biden established policy with the very same countries his son struck deals with.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News in August 2018, Schweizer explained:

“If you look at the trajectory of Joe Biden as vice president, he was essentially U.S. point person on Chinese policy, and he was widely criticized for going very soft on them as it related to the South China Sea. That’s at the same time his son is getting large checks from the Chinese government.

Joe Biden is also point person on U.S. policy towards Ukraine, at the same time that his son is getting large checks from the Ukrainian government. And he’s accused of looking the other way at fraudulent behavior and corruption with the government of Ukraine.”

If the Democrats tap Biden to take down the Trump presidency, then the party will have the same dirty laundry that Hillary Clinton failed to clean, instead choosing to rig the primaries in her favor.

And then there is the Anita Hill problem, one that will inevitably be brought up in a primary debate by his opponents, despite his apologies and regret. During the Judge Brett Kavanaugh circus, Biden’s name was brought up several times by the Republicans. Why? For this statement:

“The next person who refers to an FBI report as being worth anything obviously doesn’t understand anything. FBI explicitly does not, in this case or any other case, reach a conclusion, period. Period.”

Since the left has now accepted the principle of you’re guilty until proven innocent, these remarks will be waved in front of Biden’s face by Booker and Harris should they all vie for the nomination in 2020.

What About Trump?

Where does President Trump stand in all of this? Not only does he have the majority of support from Republican voters – 74% back his re-nomination, compared to just 21% – he would benefit from the media covering the Democrats attacking someone other than himself for once.

Let’s face it: There are always calls for civility within the party, but the primaries typically bring out the worst in those seeking higher office. While the right has poked fun at Fauxcahontas, Spartacus, and the creepy porn lawyer, the Democrats will certainly embrace these tactics, too, no matter how much they feign their indignation now.
