Just a few short months after Americans across the country started receiving former President Trump’s Warp Speed vaccine, there has been a stunning 45% decline in new COVID-19 infections. The 30% drop around the globe in novel coronavirus cases is less jaw-dropping but still impressive. Considered together, are these data proof that putting all our eggs in one medical basket by prioritizing shots over other treatments has paid off? Is the pandemic over, and if so, is it a giant syringe that should be hoisted aloft at our metaphorical Iwo Jima?
Not so fast.
There is much to celebrate – at least on the face of it. Hospitalizations have fallen by 26% nationwide, and 44 of 50 states are reporting declining cases. Two of the hardest-hit states – California and New York – have seen steep drops in new infections since December. U.S. cases in total have dropped from a high of close to 250,000 on January 20th to below 150,000 cases as of this week. Likewise, deaths from COVID in America have fallen significantly since the same date. By nearly every metric, the virus appears to be on the ropes at present.
Behind the Numbers
But let’s drill down on these numbers. It is curious to note that since Inauguration Day on January 20th, 2021, when America finally got herself a “moral” and “decent” president, nature has seemingly seen fit to celebrate the end of The Dark Years helmed by He Who Shall Not Be Named. Incredibly, from the very day Joe Biden was sworn in (using tiny cheat sheets?), both infections and deaths have dropped and never reversed their downward trajectory. Did the natural world respond to this Armageddon-banishing event by beating back the pestilence?
If we lived in a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel of magical realism in which nature was entwined, helix-like, with the fortunes of human beings, that might well be the case. But we long ago decided we are a world in thrall to science, so the answer to the drops in COVID cases and deaths must be due to the sanctified jab for which we have thrown over all other treatment suitors. It’s the vaccine – right?
Wrong. Most scientists, experts, and health officials acknowledge that with somewhere between 2% and 17% of Americans currently fully vaccinated, the decline in cases cannot be attributed to the nascent attempts to immunize every man, woman and, now, child on planet earth with an experimental vaccine that has undergone no long-term safety studies. It’s simply too soon to be able to give the jab credit.
Herd Immunity is Here?
So, if not the vaccine, to what can we attribute these heart-gladdening drops? According to Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins University, the United States will achieve herd immunity this month – without benefit of the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines cleared for emergency use only in the United States by the FDA. Dr. Makary asserts that natural immunity from the millions of people who have been infected by COVID-19 and cleared the virus asymptomatically has been vastly underestimated.
This lowercasing of natural immunity in the partisan media seems by design: huge sums are paid to mainstream news outlets by Big Pharma. To extoll the virtues of herd immunity achieved without benefit of the miracle jab would upset our media overlords. And as if to handicap the natural order in place since the dawn of man, the World Health Organization re-wrote Science 101 in 2020 by quietly excluding natural immunity as a way to achieve herd immunity, leaving only – wait for it, won’t you – immunity achieved through vaccination. However, the WHO was caught doing it, and like its spirit animal, Dr. Fauci, reversed itself and put the original definition back.
Could achieving natural herd immunity – something humanity has been doing for millennia and without which we wouldn’t be here – be the reason for the decline in cases? It is scientifically logical to think so and entirely plausible. But it probably isn’t the whole story.
Joe Biden Saves America (C’mon, Man!)
Speaking of that paragon of integrity, the World Health Organization, we must recall how the very day Joe Biden was sworn in, the WHO reiterated its new cycle threshold guidelines for international PCR testing. Remember that prominent scientists have been saying since as far back as June 2020 that the high cycle thresholds (25 and above) of the PCR tests render them scientifically meaningless. This was affirmed by The New York Times in the Fall, which reported that as many as 90% of PCR tests are false positive.
Why did the WHO wait until the new administration took control to admit that PCR tests wildly inflated the number of COVID cases worldwide? Could there have been an ulterior motive? And if so – what could it have been? So difficult to speculate. Some questions, it seems, are too complex for possible answers even to be suggested.
[memberzone align=”right”] Whether the pandemic is in its death throes, we can’t yet say. Despite every metric demonstrating that lockdowns have been a disaster and 50,000 medical professionals worldwide advising against them as part of the Great Barrington Declaration, France just locked down again for a month in anticipation of a fourth wave. Hundreds of people are becoming infected with COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated against it, and mutations and variants of the virus are outpacing the ability of our hoary heads of science to confront the threat. A variant of the virus known as P1 is wreaking havoc in Brazil and has now been detected in New York. The variety of vaccines enlisted to vanquish our viral enemy are made moot as the virus adapts around the efforts to control its mutation like a tragi-comic game of scientific Whack-A-Mole.
But for now, rest assured the comforting drop in new COVID infections has nothing to do with the WHO changing the testing guidelines for PCR tests, or the establishment of natural immunity from the virus – and everything to do with the fact that we now have a president of whom elites the world over approve.
Whether it’s by dint of magic, a miracle, or deft micro-management, Joe Biden has saved America. For now.
