The leftist-establishment united front against Donald Trump supporters has become firmly rooted in its messianic phase, convinced of its total righteousness. The implications are terrifying, not only for the personal liberties of some 74-million-plus Americans but also for their physical safety.
New Scarlet Letter
Some professional “conservatives” dutifully expressed their outrage over the easily preventable unrest on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6. Progressive radicals and establishment powerbrokers, mouthing pious regrets while bending the knee to an insurrection narrative, keyed on that magical “I” word to paint tens of millions of people who voted for the 2020 GOP nominee and sitting president on Nov. 3 as domestic terrorists.
The result is a casual stripping of fundamental freedoms. The following are but a few examples:
In 2014, former New York City Mayor, multi-billionaire, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg founded a pro-gun control outfit called Everytown for Gun Safety. This organization is using the “attack on the U.S. Capitol” to portray every National Rifle Association (NRA) member as a menace to the general public.
A Jan. 28 report at the group’s Everytown Research & Policy website states:
“In fact, for decades, the NRA and the broader gun lobby has (sic) enabled access to guns by anti-government and white supremacist extremists through their advocacy against common-sense gun laws, while simultaneously harnessing the extremists’ fixation on guns and violent response to perceived government overreach. In doing so, the gun lobby has amplified radicalizing messaging to new and broader audiences.”
The hysteria that gripped the nation during the Summer of George Floyd and the resurrection of the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement also is being utilized to encourage a brutal suppression of Trump supporters. And the police departments that were to be disbanded in the name of social justice are now being called upon to crush the “traitors.”
The Center for Policing Equity (CPE), a criminal justice reform group, announced in a Mid-Year 2020 Report that it had raised a jaw-dropping $44.4 million, far surpassing its goal of $3.4 million for the entire year. Google’s charity arm is among the mammoth philanthropies that officially partner with CPE, and the Obama Foundation has hailed it for being “on the front lines of social justice.” In short, CPE is a “player.”
In a press release on Jan. 8, CPE Co-Founder and President Phillip Atiba Goff was furious that police did not fire rubber bullets at the red hats wandering the halls of the Capitol:
“For communities that already believe law enforcement has no interest in protecting them, these events offered the ultimate confirmation. Every barrier surrendered, every rubber bullet not fired, every desecrator allowed to walk comfortably down the Capitol steps showed that the state’s response is dictated by the identity of the offender rather than the nature of the offense.”
Deep Hostility
So it seems that longstanding hot-button issues surrounding gun rights and racial tensions are going to be used as weapons against the new regime’s political opponents. However, the most alarming threat will likely come from an entrenched Deep State eager to turn its power against an America First movement that it despises.
Katrina Mulligan is managing director for National Security and International Policy at the progressive establishment think tank Center for American Progress (CAP). Before joining CAP in September 2018, she served as a national security policy analyst at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for nine years.
On Jan. 19, Mulligan penned an article on CAP’s website titled “The United States Could Be ln the Early Days of a Domestic Insurgency.” Mulligan laid out a vision of Trump voters as a dangerous network embedded within America:
“This movement, united by Trump, brings together conservatives, Christian nationalists, Nazi sympathizers, white supremacists, and ultranationalist groups such as the Proud Boys.”
In Mulligan’s view, Trump backers may unleash a wave of terror upon the nation at any moment. She wrote: “History shows what America can expect if the recent insurrection becomes an open insurgency: kidnappings, bombings, and assassinations.”
Her response: The full power of the federal government must be deployed to eradicate America First Trumpism:
“The pro-Trump extremist movement that stormed the U.S. Capitol was likely not an isolated event made up of independent groups or an assembly of uncommitted members. As unthinkable as it is, it may more properly be thought of as the early stages of an insurgency. Ending it will require a sustained, whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach that stands firmly against those who incite and commit violence. Solutions must also address the unifying ideology — however baseless it may be.”
Much attention is devoted to social media censorship these days. The true scope of the crackdown against patriotic Americans by an emboldened and vengeful Swamp is intended to go much, much further.
