HollyWeird: Why is a Child Drag Queen Being Celebrated?

Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault charges and Wendy Williams accuses bank of withholding her funds.

Editor’s Note: Whether on screen or off, Hollywood can always be counted on to keep us entertained. This is especially true when it comes to politics. Join us each week as we shine the spotlight on Tinseltown’s A-listers and their wacky and sometimes inspiring takes on today’s current events.

Media Promotes Child Drag Queen

[substack align=”right”]The world’s youngest “club kid,” Desmond is Amazing, is being hailed as a brave young man and celebrated by the media for his popularity as a transgender youth. This young boy began his professional career at the age of six, and his resume includes dancing at a gay bar and media appearances with a convicted killer. His mother, Wendy Napoles, said on social media that Desmond’s performances are “age appropriate, carefully supervised and in accordance with the Dept. for Labor’s regulations for child performers.”

Desmond Napoles was pretty much born into the gay/homosexual atmosphere, as his mother said, “because I grew up with homosexual people in my family, I’ve always been a big ally of the LGBTQ community.” The toddler started watching RuPaul’s Drag Race with his mom at the age of two and became fascinated with the drag queens.

By four years old, young Desmond was attending Pride parades, and then he caught his first big break in 2014 at six after appearing in “The Bacon Shake” video. In this video, Desmond is wearing a wig and a 1920s red flapper dress as he dances on stage while drag performer Jinkx Monsoon sings the Bacon song, which has lyrics inappropriate for children.

New banner Hollyweird 3The young boy’s career only gets more disturbing. In 2018, wearing a crop top, wig, and makeup, Desmond danced at a gay bar. Adult men threw money at him while he was on stage, according to the Daily Wire. Remember the backlash Netflix’s Cuties received for displaying young girls dancing very suggestively while twerking and gyrating? Many complained that the movie was exploiting young girls; however, Desmond is Amazing is revered and celebrated by the media.

In 2017, Desmond appeared in a YouTube video sitting alongside Michael Alig, a convicted murderer. Alig served 17 years after being found guilty of murdering and dismembering Angel Melendez in 1996. As the National Review pointed out, Alig, who is friends with the young boy, went to prison for “beating his drug dealer to death, soaking his body in acidic liquids for over a week, dismembering the corpse, and dumping it in the Hudson.” And if that isn’t enough, behind Desmond on the wall in the video is a painting of a girl with the word “Rohypnol” written on it.

Instead of seeing this as inappropriate at the very least, media outlets like The New York Post, The New York Times, and Huffington Post are praising his “individuality” and claiming he is the new future. In Fact, Huffington wrote:

“Desmond Is Amazing, the 10-year-old drag kid from New York City, is proof that the future is queer.”

Besides both of his parents being encouraging and “supportive” of young Desmond’s career and lifestyle choices, other big-named media outlets such as BBC Minute, the hosts of Good Morning America, and Today, are also applauding and promoting the youngster.

Not everyone is on board with what some consider the exploitation of a minor. Lesbian activist Julia Long asked Munroe Bergdorf, a transgender who modeled for Playboy: “I wondered what you thought about this normalization of child abuse?” She was referring to both Desmond’s performances as well as his friendship with a convicted killer. The audience didn’t appreciate the candor and booed her. She was forced to leave the event.

A leftist columnist for the Times of London, Janice Turner, reached out to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) on Twitter, saying, “Hey @NSPCC can you please explain why a children’s safeguarding charity has hired a porn model as a Childline ambassador? It’s an astonishing decision. Is it worth the cancelled direct debits?”

Sometimes, HollyWeird players make headlines for silly or bizarre happenings, so here is a collection of newsworthy doings — honorable and dishonorable — by the tenants of Tinseltown.

Wendy Williams Accuses Bank of Intentionally Withholding her Accounts

Talk show host Wendy Williams is in the middle of a court battle as she fights the claim she is too mentally unstable to run her own life. Reportedly suffering from Graves disease as well as thyroid issues, the star has been viewed on videos in which she appears intoxicated and out of sorts. For months, her show has had a few different hosts step in while Williams tries to get her life and health under control.

Williams now claims that Wells Fargo is denying her access to her funds, which, in an affidavit to the New York Supreme Court, she claims is causing her to risk defaulting on her bills. The bank insists it is protecting Williams because she is an “incapacitated person” and a “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.”

Kevin Spacey Going to Court for Sexual Assault Charges

Actor Kevin Spacey is just one of the newest Hollywood personalities to be charged with sexual assault. He is being accused of these crimes by three men spanning nearly 20 years. In an interview with Good Morning America, Spacey said he is “confident” that he can prove his innocence and has agreed to “voluntarily appear” in a British court.

Tune in next week to see what else Tinseltown has planned.
