The China Coverup
A new intelligence report reveals that the Chinese government knew a lot more early on about the Coronavirus outbreak than they let on – and that they actively worked to prevent other nations from learning about it.
The Five Eyes intelligence alliance released a dossier documenting the chronology of Beijing’s chicanery, from withholding both information and samples of the virus from researchers from other nations to pressing other governments and the World Health Organization (WHO) not to hold China accountable for the pandemic or restrict travel. There’s even evidence that the Chinese were censoring the news of Coronavirus as early as December 2019.
Liberty Nation’s Jeff Charles wrote:
“According to the report, China’s government at the end of December started censoring any news involving COVID-19 on search engines and social media. They removed terms such as ‘SARS variation,’ ‘Wuhan Seafood market,’ and ‘Wuhan Unknown Pneumonia.’”
President Trump confirms that he has seen evidence of the Coronavirus originating in a Chinese lab, and he isn’t happy with the WHO for helping Beijing cover it up. “And I think that the World Health Organization should be ashamed of themselves because they’re like the public relations agency for China,” the president said. One might wonder about China’s motives: Were they simply trying to hide their own incompetence, or was it something more sinister?
What to Watch for
Considering the extreme measures China took to pull off the subterfuge, one wonders how this pandemic might affect the nation’s relationship with the U.S. Will American policy toward the communist country change in the near future? It’s possible that this means the end of the made in China era. However, as LN’s Andrew Moran suggests, an end to cheap products from China means costlier goods for Americans. Don’t be too surprised when the dust settles if it’s back to business as usual.
Gretchen Whitmer: Ever Heard of Liberty?
Michigan’s Democrat governor, Gretchen Whitmer, had the state locked down over COVID-19. Unlike many of her counterparts in other states, however, she showed no signs of easing up on the restrictions after President Trump suggested it was time to reopen the nation. How are the people of Michigan taking it? Not well. Turns out they like their liberty and they weren’t afraid to let their governor know it. But, also unlike what we’re seeing in other states, the protest aimed at convincing Gov. Whitmer to release restrictions seems to have backfired.
Liberty Nation’s Graham J. Noble wrote:
“On April 30, just hours after protesters entered the Capitol building in Lansing to voice their anger at the Coronavirus lockdown, Whitmer extended those restrictions by executive order. Some of the Lansing demonstrators were armed, and it is difficult to ignore the possibility that the governor’s action was a direct response to the dissenters – as if she signed the order out of spite.”
What to Watch for
“The general population has, thus far, shown extraordinary restraint in the face of what could arguably be called an overreaction to the Coronavirus outbreak,” Graham explained. “At some point, people decide they are prepared to tolerate only so much.” The question is, how much are they prepared to tolerate this time? Be on the lookout for more protests. And don’t be surprised if the governor’s seemingly spiteful actions cost her the job come election day.

The president may hope to apply pressure to states to change policies regarding illegal immigration. However, he’ll face strong opposition from the Democrat majority in the House.
