Many Americans have learned the term “polar vortex” after 85 million people in the nation experienced freezing cold, at or below 0° F temperatures. President Donald Trump used the cold blast to undermine the credibility of climate dystopians when he trollingly tweeted: “What the hell is going on with Global Warming? Please come back fast, we need you!” [perfectpullquote align=”right” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=”24″]Cold weather is lethal.[/perfectpullquote]
The left and their outrage media acolytes quickly called the climate chasers to the rescue, and were suddenly very concerned with making a distinction between climate and weather. The lethal freeze across America is “weather,” you see. It has nothing to do with “climate,” because climate is about long-term statistical patterns. While that is true, where are these same people whenever there is a heat wave or a major hurricane?
The Media Lies
Recall Katrina, the hurricane that devastated New Orleans in August 2005. What caused such massive destruction was not the hurricane, but the fact that protective dams broke due to decades of mismanagement and neglect. New Orleans is placed in a hurricane-prone lowland area, which is why they built the dams in the first place. Had the flood barriers not been breached, the city would have been safe.
Did you see that in the media? No, they did not report it as a mere weather event turned disaster by flood mismanagement; they screamed global warming. ABC News, for instance, reported in September 2005 that “Global warming didn’t create Katrina. But research indicates it enhanced it.” Environmental writer Ross Gelbspan wrote in an op-ed in The Boston Globe: “The hurricane that struck Louisiana yesterday was nicknamed Katrina by the National Weather Service. Its real name is global warming.” These are not isolated interpretations, but represent the general trend in the legacy media: Whenever there is a weather event that conforms to their climate disaster models, it is touted as evidence of global warming. Whenever there is a weather event that goes in the other direction, it is dismissed as mere “weather.”
The president not only brought attention to the dubious nature of the theory that predicts catastrophic manmade global warming, but also to a fact that the media almost never reports: Cold weather is lethal. According to a 2015 paper published in medical journal The Lancet, cold weather kills 20 times as many people as hot weather. The politically inconvenient truth is, therefore, that global warming – should it ever materialize – saves lives.
Prepare for a Freeze
Climate science is not as settled as the legacy media want you to believe. There have been many such strange cold spells in recent years. In 2018, it snowed in the Moroccan part of the Sahara Desert. This winter has seen record cold temperatures below 0° F in Greece and Turkey. All this strange cold weather coincides with the dimmest solar activity in decades. Solar scientists are predicting that the sun is about to enter the least active period in 200 years, which coincided with unusually cold winters in Europe and America known as the Little Ice Age. Therefore, don’t be surprised if America needs to get used to much colder winters in the coming decades.
