Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest running and most popular weekly column.
Once the concussion of Donald Trump’s defeat of Kamala Harris wore off, it didn’t take long for TDS 2.0 to kick in and the progressive blame game to begin. One entrepreneur is taking a capitalistic approach to safe spaces for the losing team. A formerly accurate election predictor has been embarrassed, and no one knows how to take Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). All that plus President Joe Biden’s seemingly warm welcome for Trump has folks From the Back Forty watching in amusement.
This Guy
Self-proclaimed presidential historian and political scientist Allan Lichtman is suffering from a stinging defeat: This is only the second time in 40 years he has not been right about who will win the presidency. Allan has seemingly gotten complacent with being an “election prediction guru,” as Liberty Nation News Executive Editor Leesa K. Donner described.
Lichtman went on NewsNation’s Cuomo show and decried that he was only wrong because of the disinformation used by Elon Musk and conservative thinkers. “As I said, things could go wrong. There could be unprecedented events that change the pattern of 160 years of history. That’s what happened here,” Lichtman explained. “We’ve always had disinformation, but disinformation has exploded to an unprecedented degree. You talked about a grievance election, but a lot of that grievance was driven by disinformation. It starts with Fox News and conservative media. Conservative podcasters with tens of millions of views. But we’ve seen something brand new this time—the $300 billionaire, Elon Musk, putting his thumb on the scales through his control of X, formerly Twitter. It has been reported that his misinformation has had billions, literally billions of views.”
Or perhaps there was just less censorship?
The eyes of Texas were upon Allan, and they couldn’t let him make accusations and not talk about them. In Fort Worth, Kem Turrentine advised: “Maybe he should have said there was too much disinformation BEFORE he made his ‘Scientific’ Prediction.”
Tony Cignic weighed in from Bug Tussle, TX: “I am thinking senility and a big payoff had A LOT to do with his prediction.” If one has never been to this little southeastern Texas town, it’s quite a place. The name commemorated an invasion of bugs that spoiled a church ice cream social. Some locals add that it was an isolated and popular spot ideal for school picnics. Once the bugs ran out of ice cream, the churchgoers watched the bugs tussle.
In Garland, Grady Johnson had another idea to discuss: “Like most humans, they believed what they wanted to. We search for the information we agree with as our need for affirmation, confirmation, and validation is strong while our self-awareness is weak.”
Magical Misery Tour
Do you have $255,999 not earmarked for heating, mortgage, insurance, and groceries? Cruise line CEO Mikael Petterson has a great opportunity for wealthy Americans trying to escape. “Although the campaign was put together before the results of the election, we feel we have a perfect product for those who said they’d leave the country if ‘XYZ’ wins the election.” Villa Vie Residences cruise line has announced a “skip forward.”
According to the website, a one-year plan is called “Escape from Reality,” a two-year is called the “Mid-Term Selection,” the three-year is called “Everywhere but Home,” and the four-year option, covering the entire span of Trump’s tenure, is called, “Skip Forward.”
“A liberal sea vessel,” said Mark Wilson in Belgium, Wisconsin. “I hope that they have a large department for handling all the complaints on the ship.”
“I would hate to be stuck on that ship with a bunch of crybabies,” warned Dean Schwartzenberg of Nicholasville, Kentucky.
In Iowa, Kathy Hull had a few thoughts as well: “Great idea if you take their phones away so we don’t have to hear from them for those four years. It would be like a ‘staycation’ for everyone who stayed in the USA.”
Big, Bad, and Somewhat Confusing John
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has come out to say that Harris lost because President Joe Biden didn’t bow out soon enough. But Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) took Pelosi down a notch.
“People like Pelosi, she really tried to — what’s the word I’m looking for? — she embraced this ‘She’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer.’ And now she’s blaming Biden. Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted, and now you’re still blaming Biden,” Fetterman told Politico.
“I think it’s really ironic that you have a woman at age 84, and she is still hanging on. Why not give a younger generation an opportunity to occupy that seat?” the senator continued.
Georgian Shannon Parker Howard admitted: “I’m starting to think Fetterman is a man of integrity.”
Fetterman’s brutal honesty didn’t end there, though. He praised some of President-elect Donald Trump’s “serious, qualified” appointments to his incoming cabinet Wednesday – namely Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) as secretary of state and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as ambassador to the United Nations.
But, of course, Fetterman is a Democrat, and his bipartisan praise only went so far. He’s not a fan, for example, of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for attorney general. Fetterman came up with an alternative: Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) – and he called Gaetz a “jerkoff.”
Vann Lindquist in Springfield, MO, has problems with Fetterman still: “Wear a jacket and I’ll take you seriously.”
Trump Is Back
President Biden, who gave an excellent concession speech on behalf of his Vice President Kamala Harris, finally met with the 2024 presidential victor in the White House. The same guy who worried about the nation’s soul and drilled into Americans that Donald Trump was a threat to democracy began the meet-up with a handshake, saying, “Welcome back.” For those who watched, Biden had an ear-to-ear grin.
