The Japanese Buddhist philosopher and educator, Daisaku Ikeda, once said, “Genuine sincerity opens people’s hearts, while manipulation causes them to close.”
There is a fatal flaw in the far-left’s now decades-long assault on America’s culture and traditions and its relentless pursuit of absolute power. That flaw is an utter lack of conviction. In short, progressives do not believe a word of their own dogma – and everyone else is beginning to see it. Whether the issue is abortion and women’s rights, public health, gun control, or climate change, the insincerity of left-wing activists and politicians is glaringly obvious. What they are really practicing is pure manipulation.
So, Men Can’t Have Babies?
The most recent of countless examples of this insincerity was White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s scolding of a male reporter during a press briefing. Owen Jensen, who reports for the Catholic news network EWTN, challenged Psaki to explain why Joe Biden, a Catholic, supports abortion. When the press secretary attempted to brush him off by saying, “[Biden] believes that it is a woman’s right. It’s a woman’s body and it’s her choice,” Jensen responded, “Who does he believe, then, should look out for the unborn child?”

In a perfect demonstration of the left’s disturbing insistence that an unborn child has no natural right to life, Psaki countered, “He believes it is up to a woman to make those decisions and up to a woman to make those with her doctor.” Evidently, the very idea that the unborn deserve having anyone look out for them was not even worthy of consideration.
if Psaki was smart, she would at that point have moved swiftly on to another reporter and another issue. But she’s not smart, and like almost all progressives who find their beliefs questioned, she was unable to resist attempting to demean her questioner. In doing so, however, Biden’s spokeswoman exposed the left’s entire narrative on gender identity for what it really is; a sham and a myth that even progressives themselves do not believe.
“I know you’ve never faced those choices,” the press secretary snapped at Jensen, “nor have you ever been pregnant, but for women out there who have faced those choices this is an incredibly difficult thing and the president believes their rights should be respected.”
Psaki was assuming, then, that Jensen has never been pregnant, nor had to face the choice between aborting and giving birth to a child – because Jensen is a man. Up until just a few years ago, that assumption would have appeared perfectly reasonable. The problem is, leftists have been insisting for a while, now, that men are capable of menstruating, getting pregnant, and even breastfeeding. They are currently trying to replace “mother” with “birthing person” to drive home the point that no biological differences exist between males and females. Of course, that is all nonsense and entirely unscientific – and Psaki knows it, as do all progressives. Thus, it came naturally to her to point out to a man that he couldn’t possibly know what it is like to carry an unborn child.
Back to the press secretary’s earlier comment that “it’s a woman’s body and it’s her choice.” Americans have been hearing that refrain for years from the pro-abortion crowd. “My body, my choice,” their signs say. But this is something else leftists don’t really believe, or they would be repulsed by the idea of mask and vaccination mandates.
What Public Health Crisis?
Oh, but that’s different, the progressive would likely say. Masks and vaccinations are a public health issue, intended to protect everybody. And yet, in just the last eight months, hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants have been allowed to stream across the southern border – many of them flown or bussed to various parts of the country. The medical histories of these individuals are entirely unknown. Are they infected with COVID-19, or perhaps something far worse? Have they been vaccinated? Who knows? Who cares? More recently, some 50,000 Afghan refugees have been admitted to the United States. Again, their medical conditions are of no consequence. New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) wants the Biden administration to admit 200,000 Afghans.
What does all this prove? That nobody on the left takes the threat of COVID-19 seriously. If more evidence were needed, consider the countless photos and videos of maskless, partying Democrat politicians now out there on the interwebs.
Failing at Faking It
Left-wing celebrities screech about climate change before hopping onto their private jets or superyachts to frolic in exotic locations around the world. Then, they return to their beachfront mansions – you know, the ones that will be swallowed up by the rising oceans in just a few years, or so they constantly warn us.
Black lives matter except the many hundreds of black lives lost every year to inner-city gang violence. Women should be empowered, except that there’s no longer anything special about women because men, too, can have babies. Not only that, but men can now compete in women’s sports, shattering the future dreams of every little girl who thought she might become a champion athlete.
The late Daniel Schorr, who had a more than 60-year career as a highly respected print and broadcast journalist, once said about sincerity, “if you can fake it, you’ve got it made.” Leftists, because of their hubris – and not a little incompetence – are unable to fake it any longer. Their sincerity has been exposed as manipulation. That fact, more than any other, is why, ultimately, they will never succeed.
