Flyover Country’s Leftists Spout Party Line

by | Aug 17, 2018 | Articles, Columns

Flyover folks have left the legacy media in droves since President Trump pointed out the “fake news” shenanigans perpetrated before his election and after. Thanks to the lack of the filter previous office holders wore as a coat of armor, Trump’s words trickled down upon the masses like a leaky faucet, prompting millions to do their own search for real news.

It appears only the far left is watching CNN and MSNBC, as they lag far behind Fox News and battle for a distant second among the cable mainstays.

And conservative Americans are much the wiser. Liberals, not so much.

Wah Wah Wah Wah?

You know the voice of Charlie Brown’s teacher? That is precisely the sound emanating from liberals and lefties entrenched in the strategic head-in-the-sand position on all issues unrelated to Stormy Daniels and Russia.

In a daring move, I sought out feminists who avidly tune into Rachel Maddow on MSNBC and whoever is rotated into a prime-time spot at CNN and asked them this absolutely loaded question: What’s the latest news?

A barrage of Omarosa Intel poured forth, teeming with unproven and unheard information gleaned from pundits on both shows.

Julie, a fifty-five-year-old teacher in New Mexico, claimed she had heard the Trump tape using the “n-word” on CNN. When explained that no tape like that had been released, I was told to politely “get an education” and stop watching Fox News.

Annie and Karen, college educated and both in their early 60s, were enjoying cocktails at an adjacent table in a local Attica, Indiana bar, when I butted in (yes, I know these gals, and they are a hoot) with this thought-provoking query: Why does the left allow Antifa to dominate their party?

Crickets and blank stares.

“What is Antifa?” They both inquired, looking from each other to me in rapid succession.

Neither had any inkling of the organization sparked from leftist ideology that has been classified as a “domestic terrorist organization” by the Department of Homeland Security.  A nationwide organization attempting to instill fear by wearing black clothes, concealing identities, and perpetrating violence – one which has called for the murder of ICE agents and the assassination of our president just days ago.

They both watch Rachel Maddow and can only recall the talking head choking up over a crying immigrant child and Stormy Daniels’ key to the city presentation. They were conspicuously unaware of each threat of violence against the Trump administration and conservatives nationwide.

Perhaps the label, “enemy of the people” is appropriate.

Chris Cuomo, the latest attempted incarnation by CNN to lure the left into regurgitating their narrative, spoke of Antifa in a brilliant defense:

“If you’re a punk who comes and starts trouble in a mask and hurt people, you’re not about any virtuous cause. You’re just somebody who’s going to be held to the standard of doing something wrong.  But when someone comes to call out bigots and it gets hot, even physical, are they equally wrong as the bigot they are fighting? I argue no.”

So, let me understand this: a peaceful person with hate in their heart is a righteous target for a violent act by an angry, Antifa mob? That’s flat out condoning vicious atrocities committed against people with whom Cuomo disagrees.

Annie and Karen were convinced that if such an organization existed, MSNBC would have reported on their destructive, mob-like tendencies.

The Cool Kids Table is Open

America is blessed with a man in the Oval Office who has called out the narrative news on the far left. It gave pause to the public idly believing in the Fourth Estate and journalistic integrity. The brainwashing has been interrupted and for those who experience a rebirth, the knowledge is powerful.

After two hundred plus years of hiding behind the mighty pen and judging from a lofty position of mass publication, the news media has been called out and dissected for bias and “fake news.” An awakening that they certainly weren’t expecting, as their comfort had been in the role of an untouchable aggressor, not the critically exposed defendant.

Or as the ancient, Hawaiian shirt-clad septuagenarian sitting at the bar across from Annie and Karen, Corbin, barked after a half hour of eavesdropping, “Damn journalists have been mad at the cool kids since they didn’t get asked to prom. Time to let the grudge go.”

Yeah, Corbin is colorful in dress and conversation – and yet he might be on to something. Let’s go ask Jim Acosta what he thinks.
