Democrats: Their Own Worst Enemy

by | Feb 22, 2018 | Columns

Take a look at the news, and you’ll hear all about the looming DACA deadline, renewed demands for gun control legislation, and those mean old Russians.

So, what happened to Hillary’s 33,000 emails, FBI memo-gate, and the sheer panic of repealing ObamaCare?  Did the Russians invade the U.S. news media and change the narrative, again, while we blissfully went about our ignorant lives?

If you ask the folks in flyover states, the Democrats are gearing up and grasping for something that will stick to Teflon Trump as midterms approach.  It appears those crazy liberals are hanging their hats on DACA and the president’s popular tax reform act. Russiagate is seemingly a dead-end street—which has people grinning from ear-to-ear in the Heartland and taunting “bring it on.”

Kebran Fettig, 35, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) living in the cozy Indiana town of Williamsport, is a fan of our outspoken president and his policies.  As a third-generation healthcare professional, she hopes that Trump will fix the system Obama rammed down our throats.  “I work hard for a living, and I can’t afford ACA, and yet the unemployed and illegals are covered. How is that fair to the rest of us?”  She has a point; we spend $17.1 billion annually to ensure illegals have health care in a program that is punitive to low income and middle-class Americans.

We talked about the Russians – a topic that got an eye roll, tax reform, Mrs. Clinton (unfortunately, we can’t print those comments) and the rumors of Trump’s indiscretions a decade ago.

“I care about what you bring to the table, not what you pass under the table in your personal life,” she said with a sigh.

Another Williamsport local, 26-year-old Jason works for a national retail chain and is almost giddy with his newfound wealth since Trump’s tax plan went into effect.

“I make minimum wage and work about 26 hours a week. My check has increased to where I can pay my phone bill, electric, and rent and not have to eat Ramen noodles five times a week.”

Jason is a strong advocate for America first policies, and one of his priorities is to vote for those who will increase border security and fund the wall.

“This DACA nonsense is not making the Democrats any friends. They don’t want to become American so why do we keep catering to them?”

He also chuckled about Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) becoming a recent target of Dreamers when they marched in protest on his home in his tony Park Slope neighborhood, chanting “If Chuck won’t let us dream, we won’t let him sleep.”

“You gotta love the irony of that,” he said, as he bagged purchases at his checkout lane.

The Midwestern people have not forgotten the thrill of the 2016 victory and the small battles won with tax reform, healthcare, regulatory reform.  Things are looking brighter for flyover inhabitants, and mind you, they do vote.  So, they beseech the Dems; keep up the Russian conspiracies. Don’t stop bashing our president for putting people back to work and increasing take-home pay. We’ll be sitting pretty once again this coming November, after the dust settles from Midterm elections.
