Is the Hunter Biden laptop scandal a nothing burger? Is it such an obvious, desperate political smear that it warrants no examination and no reporting? The left-wing media appears to think so. The complete lack of curiosity on the part of reporters who spent four years chasing a fabricated conspiracy theory is remarkable. If there were nothing to the story of the Biden family’s quest for cash, though, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would not be wasting his time begging the director of the FBI not to investigate the matter.
That is exactly what Schumer is doing, however. On October 22, the senator and fellow Democrat Ron Wyden of Oregon sent a letter to Director Christopher Wray, ostensibly threatening him with all kinds of hyperbolic outcomes, should the FBI probe the issue before the presidential election.
In their letter, the senators referred to “a widely questioned article in the New York Post.” The original Post article that broke the story of the Bidens’ apparent influence peddling has been widely questioned only by Democratic politicians and their media minions. Even the Biden campaign has not directly denied the substance of the emails. Since the FBI has for some time been in possession of a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden – and considering the potential political and possibly criminal repercussions of what is alleged to have been discovered on the computer’s hard drive – the Department of Justice would surely have by now debunked any rumors of nefarious activity surrounding the former vice president’s family.
The DOJ usually does not comment on ongoing investigations, though the FBI discarded that protocol during James Comey’s tenure as director. So, why haven’t the American people been informed? Are one or more Biden family members being investigated? If the Bureau has already determined that nothing untoward had taken place, would it not have a duty to clear the Biden family name this close to an election in which Joe Biden himself is campaigning for the White House?
Another Russian Conspiracy?
Several Democrats – most notably Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is more obsessed with Russians than Joseph McCarthy was – have claimed that the entire affair is nothing more than a dastardly Russian plot. Presumably, the goal was to smear the Bidens and help President Trump win a second term.
If that is the case, however, the FBI would surely have determined the facts by now. It would have been a sophisticated plot indeed. Russian agents presumably would have managed to steal Hunter Biden’s laptop, plant on it fake emails, and then arranged for it to be dropped off at a computer repair store in Delaware. Additionally, they would have had to bribe former U.S. Navy officer Tony Bobulinski to go public and corroborate that the emails at the center of the story are real – and lie to Congress and the FBI.
Bobulinsky is not the only witness to these alleged Biden family business deals, though. The owner of the store at which Hunter Biden’s laptop was deposited set the wheels in motion. Bevan Cooney – another former business associate of the Bidens – has also come forward to corroborate the story. Given the fact that the current president of the United States was impeached over a phone call, how is it even possible that the media considers this an affair so unimportant that they will not even report it?
When so many people go to such great lengths to discredit a story, the chances are that there is at least some truth to that story. The presidential election is now less than two weeks away. At this point, none of it makes a significant difference to the outcome of the White House race. Chuck Schumer must know that, and so his efforts to stall an FBI investigation cannot have anything to do with a concern that the election result will be affected. Perhaps he is more worried about what might be revealed after the election is over if Trump wins.
