Biden Struggles to Remain Relevant With Heartlanders

Consoling the family of OJ Simpson wasn’t the way to go.

Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest running and most popular weekly column.

Heartlanders have read George Orwell’s predictions of what life in America would become, also known as 1984, and cannot be surprised by much in politics these days. Overriding tenets of “War is Peace,” “Freedom is Slavery,” and “Ignorance is Strength” are becoming the norm. Still, many across the heartland are paying attention. That old belief that the silent majority is ready to activate is passe. No one is silent anymore.

How Is This Even a Thing?

Former President Barack Obama was right when he said middle America is a hard place to win votes: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion.” The Second Amendment is as important to rural and middle Americans as freedom of speech and the right to privacy.

But then this happened: Czechoslovak Group (CSG) inched closer to a $1.9 billion purchase of a consortium of ammunition producers in the US. They are not from around these parts. Alarm bells rang between the coasts like a national tornado outbreak.

CGS released a statement:

“We have a demonstrated history of supporting the long-term growth of our portfolio companies. We look forward to successfully closing the Acquisition of The Kinetic Group and becoming the steward of such venerable American brands as Federal, CCI, and Remington. As we have publicly stated, we intend to keep in place The Kinetic Group’s existing leadership, invest in the business and continue production in the US.”

In Show Low, AZ, Jason Montes asked: “Why doesn’t this sound good?” Steve Vickers replied: “They can’t ever get enough gun control, so now they’re going to try ammo control. Imagine the tariffs and control the government would instantly impose.”

Iowa Joins Texas in Snubbing Biden

Iowa took a page from the Texas playbook, making illegal immigration a state crime. It’s a two-strike version for those deported once or denied entry altogether. Without hesitation, Pat Sanders agreed in Conyers, GA, that “all states should do this.”

The law – set to take effect July 1, 2024 – makes it a state crime for an illegal migrant who had previously been deported, refused entry to the US, or who had been convicted of certain crimes. Iowa State Police are now authorized to return the unwanted migrants to their home countries. Dennis Yee in Las Vegas was also on board: “Well, if Biden isn’t gonna do anything, then the states will have to. Such a travesty.”

“The Biden administration has failed to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds at the ceremonial signing. “Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them. This bill gives Iowa law enforcement the power to do what he is unwilling to do: enforce immigration laws already on the books.”

John Tardif of Glasgow, KY, pointed out another solution: “Iowa and Texas don’t need to make new laws to make Illegal Immigration a crime in their state. It’s already against the law, and they have the right to enforce it.” President Biden hasn’t gotten that memo yet.

The Juice Still Causing Heartburn

Orenthal James Simpson, an amazing pro-football player and husker for the Hertz car rental company, passed away after a battle with prostate cancer. But people didn’t forget the biggest and most notorious deed in his lifetime: A slow-speed Bronco chase, threats of suicide, a circus of a double murder trial in which he was cleared of murdering his wife, and the devastation of two families in the wake.

Never one to let a sleeping dog lie, the Biden administration weighed in via a daily briefing. “Our thoughts are with his families [sic] during this difficult time — obviously with his family and loved ones,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “And I’ll say this: I know that they have asked for some privacy. And so, we’re going to respect that. And I’ll just leave it there,” she added.

There was no mention of murder victims Nicole Brown-Simpson or Ron Goldman – or hoping for closure of this dreadful event at all. In Worthington, OH, Brett Lockett typed his frustration: “There it is again. WHY, WHY, WHY must these people even broach a subject like that when they should be bright enough to know? It has every stinkin possibility of causing an issue if they do. Why do they feel compelled to be stupid?? They just can’t keep their mouths shut. Some things are simply none of their business.”

And TJ Smith in Montana pointed out the obvious: “Omg, these people have their priorities and values so screwed up. Let’s glorify George Floyd; let’s glorify OJ. Both losers and cons. But heroes to some…. priorities and values, yo.”
