Welcome to the genesis of yet another ghetto in America. Not a racial ghetto mind you – but a political ghetto — coming to a store near you. It seems retailers across the nation are beginning to kowtow to those still whining about the election of Donald Trump. So what’s a lib to do? Why, of course, take it out on the President’s daughter.
One-hundred-sixteen-year old Seattle-based retailer Nordstrom announced they would drop Ivanka Trump’s clothing and accessory line last week. A mere twenty-four hours later Neiman Marcus dropped the hammer on Ivanka as well. Retailers it seems are dropping like flies – running scared from the leftist campaign known as #grabyourwallet:
The #GrabYourWallet movement tracks & boycotts retailers that sell Trump family products as well as corporate leaders who enabled the political rise of the Trump family through fundraising and/or endorsements.
#grabyourwallet lists seventy-four such felons on their website — everything from Macy’s to NASCAR to Yuengling Beer. Yes indeed, the tolerant political left isn’t out to control just the size of your soda any longer – they need to control the clothes and shoes you wear. This insufferable need to determine everyone else’s everything is actually gaining traction.
You may have missed it, but a few months ago the Kellogg’s Corporation chose to halt advertising on Breitbart Daily News. In a free society, this is of course, entirely within their rights. At least Kellogg’s had the guts, to be honest, and say why they were taking action. Corporate executives stated that Breitbart “wasn’t aligned with their values.”
Nordstrom, however, is way smarmier. They are downright lying about why Ivanka-wear will no longer be available to their customers. How do I know this? I wrote the company, and this is the response from those brave souls at Nordstrom HQ:
Dear Ms. Donner,
Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are very sorry that we have disappointed you- that is not our intention at all. This is not a political decision for us. Based on this brand’s performance, we decided not to buy it for this season. We carry thousands of brands and making edits to our offerings based on performance is part of the regular rhythm of our business. Again, thank you for contacting us. We truly appreciate and value your opinion.

Rosemary K. Young, Senior Director of Marketing for Ivanka Trump responded with the following statement to Refinery 29:

Rosemary’s response was much more pleasant than my retort to Miss Jessica J:
Lying is not an effective way to respond to your consumers. Your response insults my intelligence and is entirely based on the #grabyourwallet campaign. There is an email chain of women who have asked me to join in a protest at one of your outlets. I think perhaps this would be an excellent idea. Again – we do NOT NEED A POLITICAL GHETTO in our retail stores in America. At least Kellogg’s had the decency to ADMIT what they were doing when they stopped advertising on Breitbart. You folks at Nordstrom HQ don’t even have the fortitude, to be HONEST with your customers. Actually, former customers. FOR SHAME!
Guess I got a little angry. Hell, yeah. And you should be outraged as well because believe me, ladies; this is only the beginning of the retail ghetto. From the Racked website:
The campaign’s boycott list is still pretty long; it includes many major department stores, including Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Lord & Taylor, as well as HSN, Century 21, Overstock.com, and DSW.
It will be revealing to see just how many retailers cave in to leftist pressure to determine the clothes you wear and the shoes on your feet. The left conveniently forgets that the Ivanka line is a woman-owned and operated business. The hypocrisy of these so-called feminists is breathtaking.
Chicken-livered retailers might want to give this a think. After all, Donald Trump won the election. According to the International Business Report, “… over half of white women voted in favor of Trump, CNN exit polls indicated, showing 53 percent of white women voted for the real estate mogul.”
Retailer Note to Self: That’s a lot of shoes.
Does the left really want a political battle in department stores across the nation? They may have won the first few skirmishes with Nordstrom and Needless Markup, but women on the right have a helluva lot of buying power, too.
