BREAKING: Judge Nixes 6 Counts in Fani Willis Case Against Trump

Trump's indictment for alleged election interference just became a lot less daunting.

Donald Trump won part of his Georgia criminal case brought by DA Fani Willis on Wednesday, March 13th. Judge Scott McAfee of the Superior Court of Fulton County dismissed six counts of the indictment against Trump. Defendants are entitled to defend themselves against specific charges, not general ones – and Judge McAfee ruled Fani Willis’ office did not state the offenses “with sufficient certainty.” This ruling does not have any bearing on the motion before McAfee to throw out the indictment in its entirety because of Ms. Willis’s conflicts of interest – he said he would rule on that claim this week.

Fani Willis Down But Not Yet Out

McAfee’s ruling affects the former president and 14 co-defendants. The Fulton County judge wrote, in part, “As written, these six counts contain all the essential elements of the crimes but fail to allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of their commission, i.e., the underlying felony.’ solicited.'”

Trump and others still face additional counts while Willis faces the prospect of seeing the whole case disappear when McAffee rules on the matter of her conduct in the coming days. Willis has one opportunity to refile the dismissed charges.
