SCOTUS: Legislatures Can’t Control Redistricting – READ IN FULL

Bad news for state legislatures wishing to act independently of state courts and executives on redistricting.

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in the case of Moore v. Harper today, June 27. This case came about from a challenge by Republicans in North Carolina. They tried to control statewide voting district lines without regard to the state courts, under power they say comes from the Elections Clause of the Constitution.
