Oh boy. It was a week filled with looting, riots, golden caskets, and ridiculous attempts at solidarity with photo ops staged by the ancient and out of touch congressional Democratic leaders – the very same politicians that squawked like a barnyard full of leghorn fowl fighting one another for the fattest bug. And if lawlessness and poor management by the elected in our nation’s largest cities weren’t bad enough, the very same folks are now declaring that police departments need to be disbanded as celebrities with armed security forces attempt to fund their demise. Seriously.
America is a hot mess. And flyover folks, fueled by common sense and filled with an innate responsibility for the preservation of American life and liberty, were not happy. No prisoners were taken across the airwaves, in local taverns, or in the streets.
“I’ve Pandered and I Can’t Get Up!”
Heartlanders listened to rebukes by the left when President Donald Trump cleared a path of protesters to visit St. John’s Episcopal Church across the street from the White House. The church’s basement nursery had been set on fire by “protesters” – you can’t call them lawless rioters anymore – and Trump was bound and determined to assure Americans that this wasn’t going to be normal. He held up a bible. And all hell broke loose in the media.
Not to be outdone by the bad orange man, congressional Democrats staged a moment of weakness designed to invoke a blessing from the African American community. Donning Kente-cloth stoles, the very white legislators – nearly translucent from hiding in their mansions – knelt in the Capitol for eight minutes and 46 seconds. Talk about white privilege.
The backlash was immediate. Prominent political ally of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Frederick Joseph, tweeted, “If anyone can’t understand why Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and them dressed up like they’re trying to sneak into Wakanda is disrespectful and appropriative you have a great deal to learn.”
He peppered everyone, continuing with, “The Black people who allowed them to do this also think Black people are a joke.”
Ouch. And then Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) could not manage to get back up. It was an award-winning Lifeline moment. Flyover folks pounced.
From Birmingham, AL, Jackie Holland said, “I am 69 yrs old & normally the last thing I would do is mock the elderly, but honestly when ole Nancy couldn’t get up, I laughed like I haven’t laughed in a while.”
And from Miliken, CO, Paul Froelich had his say:
“It was a moment of silence for anyone that needs a good laugh. I don’t think I’ve seen anything this stupid involving Nancy Pelosi before. This one was good as I laughed longer than the stunt lasted.”
Our final flyover commenter, with dripping sarcasm, was Larry Lucas of Pickstown, SD. Observing what he thought of the kneeling cultural appropriators in Congress, “This is from the heart.” Right. “Yeah, the heart, that’s the ticket” as Jon Lovitz would say in character on SNL’s The Liar.
Hot Mics, Recordings, and Witnesses Suck
America’s attention turned to the Windy City this week as rioters, looters, and violent city folks upped the ante in the one of the most violent gun-controlled cities in America. Gangs, drugs, crooked politicos, and violence have always been a problem for Chicago, but the newly elected peace-love-harmony Mayor Lori Lightfoot promised to manage the city better than the former mayor who high-tailed it out of office, Rahm Emanuel.
The Daily Caller ferreted out a few hot mic missteps and private conversations between Lightfoot and her city aldermen. “Chicago is a Sh—Show,” she declared. It has been, for some time, but now everyone who held back their bad behavior saw folks kneeling and violent protesting with no consequences and the bad genie was released from the bottle.
Crying, sobbing, and a lot of cussing occurred – the word sh-t was a favorite go-to for Lightfoot, as was the F-bomb – as the city’s elected honchos cowered inside blockaded offices calling for help during a virtual conference with Chicago’s 50 aldermen. But here’s a sample.
Alderman Raymond Lopez described his ward as a “virtual warzone,” and pointed a finger at the mayor. After several brush offs, she answered “No offense — f–k you, then. Who are you to tell me I’m full of sh–?” Lopez dared respond, “Maybe you should come out here and see what’s going on.”
Lightfoot, undeterred by her underlings, had a moment of clarity, “It’s going to take a herculean effort to convince businesses not to disappear.”
Yeah, across state lines into more conservative areas. Another alderman stated, “I called 911 … they’re not even answering the phones anymore. I called 911 today too and wasn’t able to get through.”
Happily living in her red state in Fresenden, ND, Connie Kuntz wondered, “I love one Alderman’s complaint that ‘there weren’t enough cops.’ And what do they think will happen when the police force is dismantled?”
Michigander Allan Charters hopes they all head for another blue-run city and not toward his calm world, saying, “More irrational response because the mayor is clueless. Chicago is going to be like Detroit, with homes selling at $500 a pop.”
