- The Democratic National Committee has unveiled plans to hold its Milwaukee convention remotely. Instead of attending in-person, delegates will be invited to send in votes by mail. For those who are not fully on board with Biden as the nominee, this may not go down well.
- Johns Hopkins University is offering a one-week online course on how to be a contact tracer. This role has come under fire on social media for being one part busybody and two parts informer.
- Nancy Pelosi has expressed anger at Senate Republicans who want to put a pause on the next relief package to review the measures already enacted. Pelosi responded, saying that “hardship doesn’t take a pause.”
- Michigan lawmakers had to abandon a virtual meeting on whether to ban guns from the state Capitol after online trolls began their work. If the state government can’t figure out how to deal with online trolling, perhaps they are not the group to be making security decisions.

- In a match-up between Biden and Trump, a Monmouth poll suggests Biden wins by 50% to 41%. However, when third-party Justin Amash is added to the mix (on 5% support), that drops to 47% for Biden and 40% for Trump, suggesting that a strong Libertarian Party showing may do more harm to the Democrats.
- 64% of voters worry that the government’s cure for the Coronavirus may be worse than the virus itself.
- More than two-thirds (70%) of American adults say they are likely to get the COVID-19 vaccination if it becomes available.

The COVID-19 outbreak is creating thousands of new jobs: contact tracers. Governors across the country are looking to hire thousands of people to make calls and in-person visits to those suspected of having the Coronavirus. But as with many government schemes, there is an aura of politics involved. New York is requesting that all those who apply have a “demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc).” Does this mean that only those who have virtue-signaled their way through life will be hired?
