Virginia Legislator Plans To Ignore Gun Owners, Calls Them “Little Kids”

Ken Plum caught on open mic insulting his constituents.

The former State Chair of the Virginia Democratic Party, Delegate Ken Plum, was caught on an open mic Saturday, Jan. 4, insulting the gun owners of his district. Plum appeared as part of the area delegation to the Virginia General Assembly, which held a public hearing to “listen to what you all think is important, and what the General Assembly should be paying attention to.” That hearing attracted many constituents who were there to voice opposition to the many radical gun-control bills pre-filed for the new legislative session.

Plum’s comments to fellow Delegate Karrie K. Delaney (D) indicate his plan not to listen to his constituents as they demand and plead for Virginia politicians to respect the rights of gun owners. Amid the background noise and chatter, Plum is heard asking Delaney: “You gonna stick around for the 25 gun guys?” A moment later, in the mostly inaudible exchange, he appears to say: “They are… mixed up, little kids.” Then, in reply to something Delaney said, Plum can be heard saying: “Yeah, as long as we, ah, just don’t respond.” Here is the video that Liberty Nation found on YouTube. It was posted by “Freedom Videos”:

Virginia gun owners have mounted a broad campaign against new gun controls, with a Second Amendment sanctuary movement. This effort involves encouraging the state’s independent counties and cities to pass resolutions in support of the Second Amendment rights of the people and forbidding cooperation with authorities who take action against them. Those “little kids” Plum insults are both armed and quite agitated. That he refuses to engage with his constituents on such an existential issue for many, does not bode well for Virginians. The Democrat has already made clear his approval of legislation banning the most popular modern rifle, the AR-15, with comments such as:

“Citizens possessing what is essentially a machine gun — you can call it a high capacity rifle, or whatever, it’s essentially a machine gun — is not necessary, nor is it desirable in a civilized society, and nor is it necessary for public safety.”

Plum, who was endorsed by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, an anti-gun rights political organization, has introduced – for the upcoming legislative session – a new gun background check proposal. Liberty Nation made efforts to reach both delegates for comment before publication of this article. As of this time, neither Mr. Plum nor Ms. Delaney has responded to our request.
