A few months ago, Liberty Nation reported on why the world views the U.S. through the distorted lens of CNN. Now the time has come to explore why Americans are subjected to a daily diet of “The Most Trusted Name in News” which has, for all intents and purposes, become a laugh line.
Walk into any public place with a flat screen – from hospital to airport – and there is CNN blaring in the background. All fake news, all the time. It resembles a nasty rash that you just cannot get rid of no matter how hard you try. The question is – are we trying to stop it, or have we become hopelessly used to seeing CNN all the time and everywhere?
Liberty Nation likes to tout our intelligent and thoughtful readership. As such, we received the following from a daily communicant the other day. It is a compelling case for not being willing to follow the status quo and standing up against the constant onslaught of CNN in the public square:
Dear Mr. Hoover,
My husband and I have leased as well as purchased several Mercedes Benz cars from your dealership. We also have participated in your service programs. Our experience over the years has been favorable, overall.
That said, I am writing to you as the General Manager to mention that I bristled with annoyance and frankly, felt insulted when I strolled through the customer lounge recently to see the large TV tuned in to CNN. As you are likely aware, CNN has been largely discredited over the years (even more so recently) for false and inaccurate reporting. CNN is no longer considered a reputable news organization by millions of Americans. CNN executives have even admitted to multiple occasions of errors in their reporting.
Mercedes Benz as a firm has a reputation for promoting quality, integrity, honesty, and attention to detail. With that in mind, I would suggest you turn off CNN and other news networks known for their misrepresentations, hyperbole, and outright bias. In today’s world of fake news, political strife, and cultural polarization, the last thing Mercedes Benz should be doing is promoting such things to its customers in their lounge or elsewhere.
Our dear reader waxed on for a few more well-written paragraphs, and within three minutes of hitting the “send” button, the Mercedes GM wrote back that CNN would be turned off in his establishment. Now that wasn’t very difficult, was it?
Perhaps this is the start of something long overdue? Maybe we should begin a twitter campaign #STOPCNNinPublic. Now that would be a worthy enterprise, don’t you think?
So, shall we commence with our little letter writing campaign? There are airports, hospitals, car dealerships, doctor’s offices, shopping malls, skating rinks, bowling alleys and more. The list is endless.
To quote American author and historian Edward Everett Hale, “I am only one, but still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And, because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do what I can.”
