The FBI,The Stench of Corruption and The Swamp

by | Dec 8, 2017 | Deep State

There’s a Christian adage that goes something like this, “The more you dig, the more the Bible proves to be true.” This is because unearthed archeological relics tend to support biblical references.  Similarly, an uprooting is playing out on a political level in The Swamp. That is, the more we dig, the more Democrat corruption seems to be brought to the surface.

Except for a lie told by Michael Flynn to the FBI, everything unearthed so far in The Swamp concerning the 2016 election oozes of democratic sleaze and filth. The most substantial find surfacing of late is the possible dishonesty of America’s most powerful law enforcement agency – the FBI.

Where’s the Trust?

It’s one thing not to trust the president, another to be skeptical of Congress but to even conceive that the FBI is partisan and corrupt is rather earth-shattering and carries with it the stench of a Banana Republic.

The smell of dishonesty began to waft from the smartphone of the former head of counterintelligence, Peter Strzok. A key player in the Clinton email scandal and part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team, Strzok’s phone showed clear and present text messages that were anti-Trump and pro-Clinton. Mr. Strzok is now twiddling his thumbs in the human resource department of the FBI. Maybe he’s searching for more anti-Trump recruits – who knows?

In the midst of this rather unseemly scandal enters President Trump who manages to tweet what most Americans are already thinking. He essentially said that the FBI’s reputation is in “tatters.” Well, you would have thought “tatters” was a four-letter word based on the hue and cry that resonated throughout The Swamp.

Director Wray to the Rescue

FBI Director Christopher Wray then entered the scene this week to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and answer countless questions about whether his agency is in tatters. Really? What’s he going to say? Yes?

Of course, Wray defended the FBI ad nauseam.  Americans can now rest easy knowing, “the FBI that I see is people, decent people, committed to the highest principles of dignity and professionalism and respect.”  Well, that settles the issue now, doesn’t it?

Rep. Jim Jordon, (R-OH) wasn’t drinking the Kool-aid and kicked off his questioning of Wray with this:

“If you kicked everybody off Mueller’s team who was anti-Trump, I don’t think there’d be anybody left. There’s got to be something more here. It can’t just be some text messages that show a pro-Clinton, anti-Trump bias. There’s got to be something more. And I’m trying to figure out what it is. But my hunch is it has something to do with the dossier. Director, did Peter Strzok help produce and present the application to the FISA court to secure a warrant to spy on Americans associated with the Trump campaign?

Wray demurred so Jordan turned up the heat:

“Here’s what I think, Director Wray. I think Peter Strzok, head of counterintelligence at the FBI; Peter Strzok, the guy who ran the Clinton investigation, did all the interviews; Peter Strzok, the guy who was running the Russian investigation at the FBI; Peter Strzok, Mr. Super Agent at the FBI — I think he’s the guy who took the application to the FISA court.

“And if that happened — I mean, think — if this happened, if you had the FBI working with a campaign, the Democrats’ campaign, taking opposition research, dressing it all up and turning it into an intelligence document and taking it to the FISA court so they could spy on the other campaign — if that happened, that is as wrong as gets.”

Jordan just may have put two and two together and come up with four. If so, “tatters” would be a polite way to characterize the FBI. Indeed, the reputation of the agency as non-partisan and trustworthy would be ruined – torn to shreds and rapidly disintegrating at the bottom of The Swamp.

And as for the smell of corruption? The atmospheric conditions of a swamp are such that odors have a way of lingering and permeating everything around it. Should the stench of corruption in the FBI prove to be true, there’s no telling how long it will take and what will be needed to clear the air.
