Another one bites the dust, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Charlie Rose may just be the next patient at the Meadows Rehab Center in Arizona where Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey have been holed up.
CBS News president David Rhodes is quoted in The Hollywood Reporter saying Rose has been terminated at CBS because of his “extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior.” This comes in the wake of reports that Mr. Rose sexually harassed eight women.
Is anyone really shocked by this? The 75-year-old has always had the demeanor of a creep of the first order. And if there is any truth to the multiple allegations (which is more than likely), his lewd and crude behavior with women on his staff — from interns on up — is a classic example of the culture rot that is now coming to light.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rose’s other employers, Bloomberg and PBS, have suspended the long-time talk show anchor. The Washington Post first broke the story yesterday with accounts from eight women that define a pattern of sexual impropriety including groping, walking around naked, and more.

Upon the publishing of the story, Mr. Rose put out a qualified apology saying, “I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate.” But it doesn’t exactly seem like an appropriate time to parse words here.
Mr. Rose now stands in a long line of powerful and influential men who have been accused of subjecting women to untold sexually deviant behavior. One has to wonder if this story will even have time to be published before PBS follows in the footsteps of CBS and kicks Rose to the curb as well. In the meantime, his CBS colleagues, Nora O’Donnell and Gale King, have already put their two cents in about their co-host. Their comments ranged from shock to dismay and were aired earlier on “CBS This Morning.”
