There is nothing more refreshing to the soul of a conservative than watching a leftist spiral out of control and begin yammering out of both sides of his or her mouth. Such is the case with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a vocal proponent of illegal immigrants running amok, but one who would rather they didn’t disturb her peace, love, and harmony neighborhood in the sanctuary city by the bay.
Pelosi’s anger was prompted by a report by The Washington Post, which recently regurgitated a behind-the-scenes-at-the-White-House conversation, alongside tornado sirens screeching out warnings that President Trump was considering using illegals for political payback. Namely, dropping detainees by the busload in declared sanctuary cities. “It was retaliation, to show them, ‘Your lack of cooperation has impacts,’ ” an anonymous DHS official reportedly told WaPo.
Apparently, the zany idea was spawned during secret squirrel type meetings in the fall of 2018 between the White House and Department of Homeland Security – though it was quickly scuttled by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement as “problematic,” and shelved. Until February, when negotiations with Congress over border wall funding again stalled and the idea was revisited. Although no proof has been offered that this idea was ever under serious consideration – and you can bet if the Dems have their way, the allegations will be thoroughly investigated – the mighty-mouths of the Democratic Party are seething and jawing away.
President Trump confirmed the story via Twitter, though it’s not clear whether he is genuinely in favor of the idea, or merely decided to tweet on the matter for the purpose of amusement:
Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only….
….The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy – so this should make them very happy!
From Deplorable to Despicable
Shouldn’t the Democrats have swarmed the airwaves and invited these poor downtrodden people in search of a better life to their cities to imbibe drink, fill their bellies, and forevermore be merry? Seems like a no-brainer from a mob of elitists daring to out-moral the mean old white man in the Oval.
Instead, they freaked.
Pelosi, who claims border walls are “immoral” lost her mind upon hearing the news and quickly spat out her opinion: “Using human beings—including little children—as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable, and in some cases, criminal.”
Whoa, Nancy … easy girl. Who are the “pawns” in whose “warped” game exactly? Rhetorical, I know.
Just a few days ago the octogenarian was opening her arms to immigrants in response to the president’s visit to the southern border and his claim that America is “full.” Like a cookie-baking grandma inviting her sewing circle friends over for tea, Pelosi gushed, “Of course there’s room and there’s a need.”
It is painfully apparent that Pelosi does not keep up with cold, hard, facts. The American people want to put a stop to illegal immigration. A recent Rasmussen report shows that “a majority of likely voters,” or 67%, believe illegal immigration is a serious problem in America today. And they also believe the Democrats don’t care one whit about it.
Missed Opportunity
The article from WaPo, complete with unnamed sources, anonymous emails, and lots and lots of theorizing, claims that Trump heavily pressured Homeland Security to start dropping detainees in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and other sanctuary locations nationwide. Acting Deputy Director of ICE Matthew Albence says that claim is utter nonsense, vehemently stating that no one from the top dog on down was “pressured by anyone at the White House on the issue.” He did say they “asked my opinion” and that the advice he gave was heeded. The idea was shuttered before it ever took root.
But now that it has resurfaced, and been fanned by bogus outrage from the left, Trump is effectively using the idea to highlight the gross hypocrisy of the desperate Dems. And they bite at the bait like a starving trout in a polluted stream.
The Democratic Party just missed out on the biggest public relations opportunity of a lifetime: Tell Trump to bus away, while waiting at the gates of their sanctuary enclaves handing out Soros-provided debit cards, free iPhones, and SNAP cards to happy, smiling families, all as CNN videos the entire humanitarian event. Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow would burst into joyous sobs, while the gun-toting, bible-clutching Trumpers chant “Mea Culpa” in unison and repent a myriad of sins.
But that isn’t going to happen. And the sanctuary supporters need to just put up or shut up.
