The Left loves to believe they are correct about everything. They feel, notice the word feel, that big government is what the United States needs. However, if we look at healthcare issues and the refugee influx in countries where the European Union has complete control over what other countries can and cannot do, we can see that this maddening need for control does not benefit the nation state.
Right now, leftists are telling Americans there is no need for a private citizen to own an AR-15 because it is a weapon of war. Tell that to the family who survived a home invasion last week when three burglars forced their way into their home and shot at them.
In Glen St. Mary, Florida, at around 4 a.m., one of the occupants of the house heard a person yell “Sheriff’s Office” outside the front door. Next, they heard a loud sound as the door was forced open. Three intruders came into the house, one of them fired a handgun. Two of the three occupants exited their bedrooms, one with a pistol and the other with an AR-15 and opened fire, striking all three men. They criminals fell to the floor, then managed to get up and run away. The police took them into custody a short time later.
Yes, the AR-15 can be used in home defense. A shotgun is not practical in all cases. If a homeowner wants to keep the cleanup and property damage to a minimum, they should use an AR-15. Some people aren’t comfortable with a shotgun because of the recoil; it can be painful, cumbersome to reload, and might not hold the number of rounds required. An AR-15 provides very little kick; that will allow the homeowner to fire multiple shots towards the target if needed.
Leftists are moving to ban 30-round magazines as well. This will limit a home owner’s defense. In this particular case, there were three intruders, at least one had a firearm and shot it at the residents. Who is the government to say that a citizen can’t have or doesn’t need a 30-round magazine for home defense? The homeowner proved a use for the magazine. Democrats can’t logically dispute that.
The government has failed to protect citizens countless times. It is a fact that no one is immune to having their home invaded by criminals with evil intentions. The police will come, but only after 911 is called; what does the homeowner do until law enforcement arrives? Citizens must be ready to protect themselves and their families at all times.
Self-reliance equals self-preservation.
