Most presidents choose loyal Cabinet members, but, in President-elect Donald Trump’s case, the word most often used is “subservient.” The soon-to-be 47th president does not select people who are trustworthy but rather carry some type of cult-like “devotion,” according to the progressive left. Such is the case with Trump’s selection of Kash Patel for director of the FBI as the left enters full-on freakout mode. One can almost hear the paper shredders — or perhaps some leftover bleach bits from 2015 – being dusted off and polished up for heavy use.
The left is in full-on panic mode over Patel taking America’s top cop shop from Christopher Wray. Salon is just one example: “Patel’s loyalty — a willingness to embrace Trump’s most extreme instincts — is why the president-elect has named him to lead the FBI.” Patel, they fear, “will lead the FBI as a MAGA partisan.”
Michael Sozan, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, described Patel as “one of Trump’s henchmen.” But what they fear even more comes from Patel in his book “Government Gangsters.” According to Salon, ABC News dug into the nonfiction book, pointing out that Patel will “call not just for purges but for prosecutions.”
This guy is really scaring the bejesus out of the left.
Kash Patel — Fear and Loathing
Kashyap Patel used to work as a federal prosecutor at the Department of Justice. He also served at the National Security Council and was a senior adviser to the acting director of National Intelligence. Earlier in his public service life, he worked for former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA). Of late, he is best known for talking openly about the “Russiagate” scandal — some claiming his remarks included classified information.
In a bullet point listing of his biography, MSNBC described Patel as someone who “promotes conspiracies about [the] 2020 election.” Former FBI Supervisor Rob D’Amico said on the cable network, “Some are just-like horrified that a person that they don’t believe is anywhere near qualified to be nominated for this. But I’m also hearing some frustrations – especially from some retired agents that do feel the FBI has gotten more political in a sense …”
Over at Bloomberg News, University of Michigan Law School Professor Barbara McQuade opined, “According to the agency’s official seal, the letters also stand for Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. One thing the letters don’t represent is vengeance. But Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI director, seems prepared to use the nation’s premier law enforcement organization for just that.” But that was only the beginning of her tirade:
“In addition to Patel’s obsequious loyalty to Trump, he holds radical views about the agency he has been chosen to lead. Shortly after the November election, Patel said he would ‘shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it the next day as a museum of the deep state.’”
No doubt Patel’s vocal support and outspoken defense of the incoming president are at the heart of the left’s meltdown over Trump’s choice for FBI director. However, Patel represents a large portion of the American people who believe that the FBI unfairly targeted not only the former president but also many ordinary citizens as well. This persecution includes Roman Catholics, pro-life activists, and even some of those incarcerated for their actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
It must also be said that some of these Patel opponents may be frightened of what he could find once he sits atop the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There is another legitimate question to be asked: If nothing untoward was done at the FBI – what is there to fear? Leftists are surely acting as if something is lurking within the agency files that will not reflect well on the bureau. If there is, Kash Patel will be the one to unearth it.
And they just may be right.
