Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is finally being touted by many observers as the new frontrunner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Joe Biden is falling apart in spectacular slow-motion and the heart attack suffered by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at the advanced age of 78 has raised serious questions about his viability for the long haul. With little doing on her part, the top tier had suddenly shifted Warren's way.
So naturally, she went on national television and had an awkward interaction with a 9-year-old "transgender" child – because that is what you do when you are seriously trying to win a nationwide election to capture the White House. And what a mess it was.
The optics could not have been worse for the supposedly surging Warren and her Dem rivals at the political minefield that was CNN's LGBTQ Town Hall on October 10. An angry transgender seizing the mic and Beto O'Rourke pledging his support for revoking the tax-exempt status of every church and religious organization in America that opposes same-sex marriage were among the lowlights of an evening that almost seemed designed to alienate Middle America.
Who's Calling the Shots Here?
The event showcased for political moderates once again how radical the Democratic Party has become. But far more fascinating were the power dynamics so clearly on display. There is simply no way a remotely competent senior staffer for a major presidential campaign should ever allow his or her candidate to be placed in a situation that would horrify millions of Americans, yet that is exactly what happened here.
It's common knowledge that these "informal" televised political town halls are never as spontaneous as they are thinly made out to be. The various campaigns have a lot of control over every aspect of the details behind the scenes. So how could allegedly politically savvy staffers possessing even a hint of foresight toward a general election battle with President Trump approve of the extremist schematics that dominated this event?
The town hall was co-hosted by CNN and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), a homosexual rights organization with serious pull in the Democratic ranks. According to watchdog group Influence Watch, the HRC reported an impressive $45.6 million in revenue for 2017. The mother of that poor 9-year-old, Mimi Lemay, is a member of the Foundation's Parents for Transgender Equality Council.
In short, everything about the moment was scripted beforehand – and it speaks volumes for who is really driving the bus in the Democrat primary race. A lavishly funded single-minded progressive issues group intentionally engineered a provocative moment to advance its own cause while showing no regard at all for how it would damage the person who many are saying is now the lead horse in the Dem field:

In this video clip, Warren precisely mirrors the abject weakness shown by fellow top candidate Biden at the hands of another reckless radical, Jorge Ramos, at the third Dem debate in Houston in September. An activist posing as a neutral journalist, Ramos was allowed to hold his own personal inquisition on immigration with the candidates in the dock, and all these aspirants claiming to possess presidential timber could do was meekly acquiesce to the process.
Winning Not the Objective?
A major political party that wants to win a majority of Electoral College votes and thus represent the country as a whole does not do these things. You do not have open-borders enthusiasts and gender-confused nine-year-olds frame the debate. Does this even need to be said? Can it be that winning is not the top priority for the radical progressives who have taken over the party at its roots and stem? Despite all the obsessive talk about the critical need to defeat the hated Donald Trump in 2020 above anything else, Democrats are repeatedly knee-capping that very mission in order to aggressively push a divisive leftist agenda into the national political discussion.
And amazingly, they are very publicly neutering their own candidates along the way. Whether it is impeachment of Trump, immigration, or social justice and radical sexual rights issues, Democrats are constantly reinforcing the diminished stature of their own ostensible leading lights by holding them hostage to a narrative that puts them in constant passive react mode to the assertions and demands of others.
These thoroughly dwarfed candidates are being sacrificed before our very eyes like the Mayan temple scene in the film Apocalypto to the high-financed progressive causes that are truly running the show. Real political power is being wielded in these high-profile Democratic events – but it is abundantly clear that none of it belongs to any of the Dem presidential candidates themselves.
