Political commentator Chris Kohls, a.k.a. “Mr. Reagan” has presented a new theory in a video that has been trending on social media: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is essentially an actor that receives her script of what to say from the far-left Justice Democrats.
At first glance, this has the ring of a crazy conspiracy theory. But upon closer inspection and adjusting for the hyperbolic term “actor,” it is mostly correct and well-documented – and openly admitted by those involved.
The process started in 2017 with the host of The Young Turks Cenk Uygur, Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk, and former key personnel of the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign. Together, they formed the progressive action committee Justice Democrats.
Uygur repeatedly stated the purpose of the Justice Democrats on his show: to infiltrate and take over the Democratic Party. They were to groom and support progressive candidates who could win in selected primaries over the liberal incumbents.
Here is a selected list of issues that the Justice Democrats have promoted as their agenda:
- The Green New Deal
- Abolishing ICE
- Making the minimum wage a living wage
- Ensuring universal healthcare as a right
Out of the 79 candidates they endorsed, 26 won their district primaries, and seven of them ended up being elected to Congress. One of them was Ocasio-Cortez. Two other notable successes were Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
According to the Justice Democrats, Ocasio-Cortez was selected out of 10,000 prospective candidates. She did not apply for the position, but her brother had responded to an ad and sent her name to the action committee. This is what Mr. Reagan refers to as an audition for a role. A more neutral description would be to label it a job interview.
The reason he calls her an actor is to reconcile the fact that she at times makes statements that reveal a child’s level of understanding of the world. She appears shockingly ignorant about basic facts. At other times, however, she sounds coherent, well-spoken, on top of prudent facts, and – at times – even brilliant.
In his estimation, she sounds knowledgeable when she is properly coached, but comes across like a child when she goes “off script.” There is probably truth to this, but isn’t this also the case for most members of Congress? All national politicians have a team of people who write their speeches, research the facts, and prepare them for questioning rounds.
Ocasio-Cortez, who was working as a bartender during the “audition,” was not chosen for her vast array of knowledge. Thousands of eggheads are employed at think tanks in the Washington area for their knowledge. None of them are elected to Congress. She was selected for her unusual persuasion abilities. Dilbert creator and pundit Scott Adams, who is a trained hypnotist, was among the first to recognize her talents and predicted that she was a rising star. Facts and knowledge can be learned or coached. Natural persuasion talent is much rarer and harder to cultivate.
The Dark Horse
Who is the brain behind Ocasio-Cortez, according to Mr. Reagan? It is a person Liberty Nation wrote about earlier: Saikat Chakrabarti, her chief of staff and a co-founder of Justice Democrats.
On the surface, he is just another introverted tech guy. On closer inspection, his choice of clothing reveals a nasty set of values. On one of his T-shirts appears a political radical from India called Subhas Chandra Bose, an ally of Adolf Hitler and an admirer of the totalitarian government of the USSR. The “evil twin” of Mahatma Gandhi, if you like.
It is reasonable to assume that Chakrabarti, as a knowledgeable, Harvard-educated Indian-American, chose this clothing deliberately to reflect his core values and vision for America.
As the Justice Democrats have been entirely open about their goals, strategy, and agenda, it would be wrong to call this a conspiracy. After her election, Ocasio-Cortez appeared on The Young Turks and said that “this is where it all started.”
Some questions about unpaid taxes and irregular usage of campaign money have been raised, but so far, nothing illegal has been proven. They can, at best, be accused of being highly effective. In fact, there might be a lesson or two there for anyone who wants to do the same in the Republican Party.
The key redeeming fact is that, despite being largely unknown to most Americans, the Justice Democrats have operated entirely transparently about their goals – even advertising them openly. The liberals in the Democratic Party, however, were taken completely off guard and must struggle against the most radical body of representatives perhaps ever elected to office in the land of the free.
