The latest filing in United States v. Donald J. Trump is in. President Joe Biden’s special prosecutor, Jack Smith, submitted his reply to Trump in the Supreme Court. Once again, the special counsel implores the court that speed is of the utmost importance, though he still hasn’t said why, exactly. Mr. Smith mentions the word election five times but never mentions the upcoming election – which is what Mr. Trump has said the charges are really about.
