Illegals Crime Report – November 1 -7

Illegal immigration may be a hot topic for politicians running for office, but as Americans, it should be an even greater area of concern. The left is determined to make us an open border country, allowing any and everyone in, no matter their criminal background. That’s why I feel it is important to highlight the serious crimes committed by so many illegal immigrants in this weekly report.

Week of November 1-7

This is not an analysis, but rather a report of the more serious crimes committed by illegal aliens. While there may have been many more, hundreds even, arrests of illegal aliens for simple infractions, here we concentrate only on the most dangerous of offenses.

In this week’s column, I’m focusing on only one case because it demonstrates the danger of sanctuary cities and states.

Martin Gallo-Gallardo and wife

Jail Refused to Notify ICE, Man Gets Out and Murders Wife

Portland, OR

When federal officers put an immigration hold on an individual, it is the prison or jail’s responsibility to inform ICE when that illegal alien is going to be released from custody. Or, so it was before sanctuary cities and states decided it was a good idea to stop cooperating with immigration officers and set illegal aliens free to wreak havoc on the community. Just ask the family of Coral Rodriguez Lorenzo, 38, who was murdered by her husband after his release from jail.

On March 6, ICE officials reportedly placed a detainer on 46-year-old Martin Gallo-Gallardo, a Mexican citizen, after he was arrested for a felony fourth-degree assault against his wife. Gallo-Gallardo had been apprehended multiple times already for being in the U.S. illegally, Border Patrol officers said. On March 8, he posted bail and was released from the Multnomah County Jail – ICE was not notified. On March 12, the assault charges against him were dropped because the wife and their children refused to testify. P[perfectpullquote align=”left” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=”24″]Perhaps, if they would have cooperated, Coral Rodriguez Lorenzo would still be alive.[/perfectpullquote]

Mrs. Lorenzo’s body was found dumped in a ditch at Camp Namanu, east of Sandy, on October 29. The last time she had been seen was with her husband, and the two had been arguing. Police went to Gallo-Gallardo’s workplace, the Pacific Seafood warehouse in Clackamas County, and he confessed to killing his wife. He told the police he “accidentally” elbowed her in the face, and then later when she got out of the car, he assaulted her. The autopsy report noted blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds as the result of her death.

The Sheriff’s Department and ICE are now caught up in the blame game. The department claims it never got the detainer request, but even if they had, they would not have followed it. The state’s 1987 sanctuary law prohibits keeping a detainee on the sole purpose of being in the U.S. illegally. However, as ICE pointed out, they wanted notification of when Gallo-Gallardo would be released so that they could take him into custody.

Perhaps, if they would have cooperated, Coral Rodriguez Lorenzo would still be alive.

And that, folks, is just one example of why sanctuary cities and states are a menace to our society.

Remember to check back next week for the next installment of our crime watch.
