The Federal Trade Commission sued AMG Capital Management over its payday lending practices. The company’s appeal against a directive that it pay $1.27 billion in “restitution and disgorgement” was rejected by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The Supreme Court reversed that ruling.
