Amid the bevy of executive orders, revolving tariff policies, and the slash and burn of bloated government agencies, President Donald Trump seems to have broken the people who consider themselves Democrats and progressives. Heartlanders watch – and comment on – the president’s torment of the left, which he makes look so easy.
Hey Mister!
Koffee With Keith in Greenville, Texas, has been canceled. The regular event to meet with constituents hosted by Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) appeared to be in the crosshairs of crazed progressives who phoned his office with death threats because he called another man, albeit one who identifies as a woman, mister. This pronoun mishap occurred during Tuesday's House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe hearing when he called Rep. Sarah McBride, the transgender Democrat from Delaware, "mister." Democratic Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) went crimson over the affront, hollering and pounding on the desk, and all hell broke loose.
A testy exchange ensued: “Would you repeat what you just said when you introduced a duly elected representative from the USA? Please?” Keating said.
“I will. The representative from Delaware, Mr. McBride,” Self stubbornly reiterated.
“Mr. Chairman, have you no decency? I mean, I’ve come to know you a little bit, but this is not decent,” Keating continued, turning a fetching shade of magenta.
Self attempted to continue the hearing but was cut short: “You will not continue with me unless you introduce a duly elected representative the right way,” Keating cried out.
“This hearing is adjourned,” Self responded. And with that tantrum thrown, the hearing was over. Kids these days.
In Millville, OH, Denise Goins Robinson queried: “Why should we have to join in their mental instability?” But Jack Reeves in Port Neches, TX, insisted that “Mr. McBride needs to get over himself.” Matt Brown of Maryville, MO, said: “I served my country as a soldier, teacher, and coach. Can’t believe what our federal government has evolved into. What a s**t show!”
Well, That’s Ironic
The Tigard Police Department, which serves a posh suburb of Portland, OR, reported a dozen shots were fired at a Tesla dealership, wreaking havoc and causing damage to vehicles and the showroom floor. It is the second shooting at the car lot in a week.
Mikelle Flewelling-Gaines in Watertown, SD, had a few words on the escalating violence against Elon Musk: “[That’s] domestic terrorism. Lifetime sentence. Don’t ef around with these idiots.” In Reno, NV, James D. Senior agreed, adding context, “Oh, so this is the ‘Domestic terrorism’ the Dems have been talking about the last six years. Now it makes sense!” So it wasn’t the parents who attended a school board meeting in the Biden years? Nope, this is a different guy.
Kurt Craeghs in Hereford, TX, had to express a thought shared by many heartlanders who picked up on the irony: “Same people who wanna take your guns away and now using guns to harm people and destroy things.”
Hailing from Las Vegas, Ken Erlanger summed up the situation well: “It isn't conservatives running around blowing up Telsa cars and sales locations, it isn't conservatives attacking JP's family on the streets; It isn't conservative members of congress that said this will be war; etc. We all know who are the true thugs in the country.”
In other Tesla news, in South Carolina, another unhinged progressive targeted a Tesla charging station with firebombs. He set himself (or whatever pronoun) ablaze in the process.
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) was on it, too: “The Democrats are in complete disarray. They don’t have a message right now. President Trump has broken them."
Trump Got Booped
President Trump was booped in the face by a boom mic while speaking to the press at Joint Base Andrews. The commander-in-chief was trying to answer a question about releasing more hostages from Gaza when a mic with a fuzzy covering, affectionately called a “dead cat,” was shoved into his cheek and lip. It was an awkward moment as the gathered press went silent, waiting for a reaction from the powerful Boopee.
Trump scowled, but after a brief glare and pause, he laughed it off, saying the embarrassed reporter "just became a big story tonight."
Seemingly, this reporter does not have muscle memory for how to lower the boom mic, and Peggy Spini in Overland Park, KS, has a good theory for why: “She is out of practice. Last admin wouldn’t answer press.”
According to the folks From the Back Forty this week, Trump has indeed broken the Democrats.
