Flyover Folk Just Looking for the Truth

by | Dec 22, 2018 | Columns, Federalism, Politics

With a seemingly infinite number of angst-causing political issues facing America, the good sense practitioners nestled between the lunatic fringes of the coast-dwellers are barreling into the holidays angry at both parties, hopeful for the wall, anxious of the disastrous results of Champagne socialism, and celebrating one federal judge’s decision that Obamacare is unconstitutional.

Hard-working patriots from Texas, New Mexico, Indiana, Illinois, Arizona, and Colorado sent messages across social media to highlight their anger at the Swamp-dwellers who continue to snub their collective snouts at conservative Americans – the people who won in 2016.

It appears there is no limit to liberal delusions of grandeur, but congressional log-jamming of the wishes of the people is taking a decidedly negative turn. So many crazy liberals, so little time.

The Wall

Mike McGee was an all-caps messenger, reacting in desperation to the shenanigans of Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and soon-to-be Speaker of the House, Representative Nancy Pelosi, (D-CA), who played kick the can with the wishes of the American people:

“Let’s see the Democrats think they can circumvent the law and divert 10 BILLION DOLLARS in aid they have pledged to Central America and southern Mexico. Meanwhile they have said no to this year’s $5 billion budget request and stripped the remaining $1.5 billion out of the border wall fund. So, the reality is a 16.5 BILLION DOLLAR shift to fund illegal immigrants and despotic Central American governments. 16.5 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!”

Oh, and a lot of exclamation points.

He wasn’t alone in that thinking, as Dave Metcalf agreed. But Metcalf pointed the finger at Trump and the leadership for caving: “McConnell and Ryan are feckless parasites. Yet, they magically find $10 billion as aid for Mexico!!!”

Everyone applauded “feckless” as the word of the hour. But Lori Hitchcock Sanders pointed out that the patriots were raising money on GoFundMe for the wall, managing to put together multiple millions in a scant few hours.  Sanders is keeping a rolling tally.

Champagne for Me – Not Thee

John, a retired expat from the U.K. now living in rural Colorado, is witness to the smug wealthy elite liberals turning the state he now calls home (legally) into a disastrous social experiment. He states that “The Californization … has produced unaffordable housing markets and sky-high rents … resulting in 7,500 people homeless,” due to the cost of living.

As he points to the alt-left in power, he admonishes, “It seems quite clear the inability of the rich neo-liberal-elites to hide their scorn and anger against rural and working people.” His ardent observation warns they have a “hatred for our government … which far outweighs love of country.”

Texan Steve Campbell was thinking similar thoughts as John, but added “The continued attack on the president to damage his presidency … (Continued interest rate hikes) Harder to buy a house, a car, borrow money, etc…Investments in the market are getting hammered and people are down trillions in retirement funds.”

Oh! BamaCare Goodbye

Amanda Garcia is celebrating the possible demise of the Affordable Care Act after one federal judge declared the 2,700-page mandate, passed only through a strict party-line vote, unconstitutional.

“Since the day the Dems voted for it I have been obsessed and the more I dove into it the more asinine it became. However, the Republicans blew it in the mid-terms, because they won’t go after it and the true injustices it offers like open enrollment, killing competition by making us all have the same coverage, forcing restaurants to have calorie count on menus, lest we forget FTE, full time equivalent employees! John McCain blew the repeal with a thumbs down. Even though I didn’t agree with it at least it was a start. With all that said, the ruling by the federal judge in Texas May finally bring it to its knees. Fingers crossed.”

And Mike Lane backed Garcia, darkly advising that Obamacare was designed to “Tax the middle class out of existence, then the politicians and elites dictate which poor people can live.”

The Week in Flyover States

What the liberal-elite cannot grasp is the idea that those Americans who live in the flyover states are well-educated, opinionated, and ready and willing to protect their beloved nation. Anger reverberates as the alt-left dismisses rural and hard-working citizens as ignorant and deplorable dregs of society.

Metcalf asked, “When will someone in Washington take action to rectify our 2-tier justice system? We have mountains of evidence against people like Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Holder, Lynch and Obama himself.”

The last word from Flyover folks is from Toby Purvis, echoing the frustrations of a weary electorate: “I just want the damn truth, about everything. I want the real culprits to step up and tell the truth!”
