Fit, Fat and Political Views: Here’s the Skinny

It seems there is a new characteristic for white supremacists and Nazis: healthy bodies.

White supremacists are no longer burning crosses on lawns and Nazis aren’t holding clandestine meetings in abandoned buildings. These stains on society have found a new home for their odious activities: the gym. We have also learned that Mediterranean, vegan, and low-carbohydrate diets are committing sexual assault in huge numbers. And being fat? Well, that is true health!

If you think this is crazy talk, then you would be right. But it is also a new anti-fitness philosophy from so-called fat sex therapist, Sonalee Rashatwar. While the medical community agrees that obesity is a cause of multiple health issues, ranging from diabetes to heart disease to strokes, Rashatwar is one of many who think being fat is healthy. In fact, Rashatwar believes that science is not only a tool for advancing civilization, but it is also a white supremacist Nazi weapon used to oppress the obese and sexually assault people.

White Supremacy in 2019

Ms. Rashatwar recently delivered a two-hour lecture at Minnesota’s St. Olaf College in partnership with – you guessed it – the Women’s and Gender Studies Department. She told the crowd:

“I truly believe that a child cannot consent to being on a diet the same way a child cannot consent to having sex. I experience diet culture as a form of assault because it impacts the way that I experience my body.

“We should be critical of the use of science and the production of knowledge to continue promoting this idea that certain bodies are fit, able, and desirable. Is it my fatness that causes my high blood pressure, or is it my experience of weight stigma?

“Fatphobic is often actually eugenic science … eugenic science is Nazi science.”

Imagine being on a lunch date, and you try to convince the other person that ordering a salad because of its low calorie count promotes both sexual violence and a form of white supremacy. Suffice it to say, that individual would immediately ask for the check.

But from where are these behaviors and thoughts coming?

Envy is a Virtue

Indulging in one’s self-defeat has become a national pastime. Being unhappy, tweeting your disdain, and partaking in progressive groupthink are strategies for getting what you want, and that others have. Hard work? That’s outdated! Personal responsibility? It’s always somebody else’s fault! Taking action? That sounds like toxic masculinity, how dare you!

No longer are you expected to pull yourself up by your bootstraps to overcome adversity. In addition to whining and moaning on social media to get your way, you need to somehow justify your sloth, ignorance, and victimhood. Blaming others, including society, is now the go-to tactic to elicit sympathy. Instead of attempting to rectify your personal situation, you need a scapegoat.

For failing feminists, it’s the patriarchy. For impoverished leftists, it’s the fat cats on Wall Street. For obese people, it’s the medical establishment, the fitness industry, the sexual deviants, the white supremacists, and the Nazis. These complaining groups all share the same goal: championing equality. But this isn’t equality in a positive sense. They want everyone to wallow in equal misery, suffering, and unhappiness.

Indeed, socialism has become the ideology of “can’t someone else do it?” But all these social justice complainers – not warriors – have their own philosophy, too: If everyone isn’t happy, then no one can be. Since there is never pleasing gender studies professors, feminist activists, or people like Sonalee Rashatwar, then the planet is in for eternal desolation. Perhaps they have been diagnosed with anhedonia – the inability to feel pleasure. That would explain a lot.

Leftists Ruin Everything

Leftism has metastasized into a psychological condition that not even Sigmund Freud could cure: a fear that someone on this planet is having a good time. Every art form, political speech, and business endeavor needs to be seen through the lens of social justice. Is your art racially equitable? Are your presidential remarks targeted towards a specific victim class? Do you have the correct skin pigmentation to open that restaurant? Every day, there is some feigned outrage pertaining to a motion picture, a television advertisement, or a lecture because three random people on Twitter were offended. It’s 2019, so what have we learned? Ignorance has a ferocious appetite, and it needs constant feeding.
