Christmas came early for those who couldn’t stand the sight of NBC’s arrogant, smarmy progressive metrosexual Matt Lauer, whose firing rocked the country this morning. Lauer follows in the footsteps of Charlie Rose and others – almost too numerous to count – who have fallen from power and influence due to inappropriate sexual behavior.
In a statement made by NBC Network President Andy Lack (more about him later) neither the accuser nor the circumstances of the dismissal were illuminated for the public. The twice-married host of the popular Today Show has three children and thus far has made no statement about his abrupt termination.
Without a doubt, it’s been a bumpy marital ride for Lauer whose second wife filed for divorce back in 2006, saying Lauer demonstrated “extreme anger and hostility” as well as cruel and inhumane treatment. The divorce suit was later dropped and the two reconciled.
On the Today Show this morning, Lauer’s co-host Savannah Guthrie expressed shock and sadness over the news of her “very good friend.” Hoda Kotb sat there like a stone while Guthrie rambled on about “transparency” and her feelings. Actually, things are not transparent at all at this point, and no one knows exactly what Lauer may have done to whom, when or why to cause the network to can him.
Matt Lauer has raised the ire of both the Democrats and Republicans. He famously grilled Hillary Clinton over the email scandal and viewers complained he permitted then-candidate Donald Trump to bloviate too long on the tube before interrupting him.
He also tiptoed through a feminist minefield back in 2014 when questioning GM CEO Mary Barra how she could be a mother and CEO and “do both jobs well.” The 59-year-old was reportedly pulling down $28 million a year at Mr. Lack’s network. Oh, and let’s not forget Lack in this whole thing. President Trump tweeted a rather cryptic reference to the network president this morning:

There’s no telling what that means but as the saying goes the fish rots from the head down and there’s likely to be more to the story about Lack and unlikely the President would tweet such a comment without some sort of behind-the-scenes information.
These days, it seems like every day is Christmas — as the once powerful and mighty are toppling faster than evergreens at your local tree-for-sale holiday lot. And for those of us counted as deplorables in America – not a moment too soon.
